He's back ...So I'm back in the full swing of poker again for the past month or so ... and February is going to be my "big" month. I plan on doing lots of 6max NL grinding, moving up from 10NL to 25NL soon (non-bankroll related issues). I've also been taking shots at 50NL HU, playing against short stacks and so far I've been successful. It's pretty high variance, so I'm going to try to stay away from it as much as I can, but the action is pretty juicy.
My initial thoughts for Vegas were to run up my $250 or so to at least $500, and then take $500 of my own money and have a BR of about $1000 for when I go to Vegas. That should be plenty to keep me comfortable at 100 and 200 NL, with some money to play around with at low buy-in tournaments as well. However, I'm basically at $500 now (over it if I include January's rakeback money). Anyways I'm still interested in talking to people about micro stakes, getting involved in hand discussions over AIM/skype and getting my game back to where it... $6.25s, 134 played, 69 won and 65 lost, -$9.50 $11.50s, 6 played, 5 won and 1 lost, +$41.00 NL$1, 1347 hands played, $271.45 won Obviously heads up is my kind of game, since you would go nuts and/or lose a lot of money playing 3+ tables, it keeps me playing just one or two tables at a time but there's lots of action so it holds my focus. I find it a lot of fun to play and these low-limit games are sickly soft. My $6.25s stats kinda suck because I managed to go on an 8 buy-in downswing at one point, which hurts a lot, but I've had a pretty conservative BR so I'm not worried about losing my money. About Thursday last week I decided to give the HU Cash a shot, playing only short stack players with $40 or less. My strategy was basically to stack them ASAP so that the rake doesn't hurt as bad. I've had a few losing sessions, but mostly I've ended up stacking my opponents and losing some money to full tilt through rake ... but I'll be getting some of it back, so it's... I had a lot tougher of a table than I did last time I went, and I probably should have left earlier or tried to switch tables before my disastrous last hand. I think my losses at the RCG for the summer total up to something like $180. I'm gonna take a break from live poker for a while and focus on building up my online roll and "paying" myself back. That means my goal is $600 + $180 or $780. As of this writing, my FT account has $382.15, and my Pstars account has $44.26. That leaves roughly $350 more to go ...
I've only had one losing session so far on FTP, 10NL has been going really well, except that I lost a ton of key all-ins this weekend. Had a set of jacks on a KJT6 board, and got it all-in against two guys, one with a queen and the other with K6, so they had 10 outs and of course an ace comes on the river, shipping a $26 pot to the total donkey. Lost another with A9 on a 8d9x3dTx board where I got... [ Continued ] 0 Comments Viewed 3 times FTP is g00t nowSo far I've played 30 of the $6 HU matches, won 18 lost 12, one of the wins was an $11.50 where I took care of the match in 5 hands. My ROI% at the $6s is 12.55% right now, which I'd like to see go up to 15% - 17% at least before I move up to the $11s. My guess is those aren't much more difficult than the ones I'm playing right now. For the month I've played 74 HU matches with a ROI% around 13%.
These matches on FTP go sickeningly quick. Out of thirty, only two of them lasted more then 10 minutes (13 min and 14 min) and two others lasted 9 minutes, the rest 7 minutes or less, probably with an average around 4.5 minutes. Plugging some math in ... 2 tables at 4.5 min per match = 60/4.5*2 = roughly 27 an hour. With a ROI% of 15%, that's $25/hour. Rakeback kicks that up a bit, by $1.80 an hour. That's some pretty damn good money for playing low stakes SnGs. I'd really like to build my roll up to at least $700 before I go to $11s. Hopefully I'll hit a downswing before then, I'd really... I played a bit more 25NL dropped down to $170 I believe then I did something really stupid ... I sat at a 50NL HU table. I played against an extremely aggressive opponent who was raising every button, three-betting about half the time I raised the button and was raising/3betting the flop almost all the time. This went on for a bit and I dumped $20 to him or so, then I called from the BB with 45o, flop was 557 and I got it all-in on the turn.
Obviously he has A5 and I drop down to $60 or something in my BR. My second ePassporte load went through on Tuesday morning, so last night I deposited to FTP and I'll be playing there for now, sticking only with the 6.25 HU and 10NL. So far I'm 6-6 at the HU SnG, including one where I lost JJ to KK on the first hand, flop was 3T6, somewhat of a cooler. Lost another after 97 flopped top two on 973 board, got it all-in against...
