Rebel without a cause by jimmer on Wed Jul 30, 2008 7:45 am GMT
I haven’t played a single hand for a week and a half, so I don’t have anything to report. However I wouldn’t mind discussing a hand that appeared on the forum in a little more detail, specifically my opinion. The forum received plenty of comments but for different reasons. As I expected, I was the only person who thought the way I did. Everyone else said the exact opposite. This is the hand;

Seat 1: Plochman ($28)
Seat 2: noseeds ($6.10), is sitting out

Another day, another dollar by Dave B on Tue May 15, 2007 11:14 pm GMT
going on almost 2 hours tonight, but doing some laundry and stuff while playing. Won a SNG and busted out in eigth in another. Running incredibly well at 3/6 right this week.

Ever wonder how when you are taking down a ton of pots and showing winners your bluffs work almost every time? Things tend to snowball in both directions. I guess the moral is, dont bluff if you are losing.

I thought the streak would be broken tonight, dropped 1/2 my buy in right away, then bounced right back and am up over 25 big bets, plus the SNG money.

Check out these stats:

Statistics for 193 Hands

Street Saw Saw/Total
Flop 66 34%
Turn 43 22%
River 31 16%
Showdown 27 14%

Street Won Won/Saw Won/Total
Pre-flop 6 3% 3%
Flop 7 11% 4%
Turn 3 7% 2%
River 2 6% 1%
Showdown 16 59% 8%

Crazy huh? 8 handed and winning...

I'm not ready to give up on Poker. Despite the running bad, the fact that I feel my game has taken a down-turn, the fact that I've been barely better than break-even this year, and my general disillusionment with the whole "Poker is going to make me rich and famous" vision, I still think about Poker. A lot. I love thinking about it, watching it, discussing it, and when I'm in the right mood, playing it.

I think that in many ways, I've been playing for the wrong reasons, or playing with bad habits for my immediate goals. My whole "grand plan" a few months ago was to conquer the Poker world by "beating" a level of games, moving up, and repeating, just hacking through with blunt force, taking no concern of what time I played, what game I was playing, or what I might have been sacrificing by playing.

So new idea: Poker is a fun way to potentially make a few extra bucks as supplemental income. I am currently unemployed, but my living expenses are paid until September. So I'm searching...

The Return of TheSalche ... by TheSalche on Thu Jun 21, 2007 12:29 pm GMT
Coming back to play again, trying to get my money in before the UIGEA becomes official. It's been 3 months or so since I played NLHE so it should be an interesting ride. $300 will be coming into ePassporte on the 27th so I'll be playing then (unless somebody loans me the money first =D ).

I turned 21 a few days ago, which means I'll be able to go to Vegas eventually, thinking about doing that over Winter Break this semester. I have two uncles (that live together ... yeah thats right ...) who have a guest house that I can stay in so that'd be nice. We'll see how well I play back at pokerstars =)
