Weird Session by xDiamond_CutteRx on Fri Apr 04, 2008 9:19 pm GMT
Can't complain too much, as I was pretty much down the felt (55 BB downswing, ewwww), but I ended up making my buy-in back and a little more in the last hour, thanks to an absolutely massive kill pot.

Early in the day I was getting destroyed as usual, with sets missing (literally 1/15 today), flush/straight draws missing, top pairs getting sucked out on, etc. All of this was compounded by the fact that I had to take a massive shit about one hour into my session. For those who don't know, I detest public restrooms, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Feeling much better, I headed back to the tables and tried to refocus.

For hour on end it was up and down, up and down. I'd recoup about 6-7 bets, then slowly have it ground away again, rinse and repeat. The first big kill pot I won, I finally picked up KK and jammed a 10-7-7 pot heads-up. Blank turn, blank river, and I put my last $9 in on the last card. My hand is good, ship it. Back up over $100.

I came all the way up to...

6/12 live and defending the dealer by Phil14312 on Mon Sep 25, 2006 2:55 pm GMT
Played the 6/12 game again at Hollywood Park. Made about $140 after only 5 hours, was up almost twice that, but my AA went down in flames in a huge pot and some other similar luck.

Had 33 hold up on a 2d3d4d flop. Turn A, River 2. Sounds really familiar to the last hand i posted in the advanced theory section. Had some good hands, made some good plays, just played a more tight-aggressive game, instead of trying to be too cute.

Also, this old guy sits down in seat 9 with about 60 bucks (shortstacked players in a limit game are generally the fish). He proceeds to get rivered once for his stack and begins cussing at the dealer, a couple f-words, bla blah, directed right towards the dealer. Next hand he plays his straight holds up when a third flush card comes on the river. After winning the hand, he starts cussing again at the dealer. "You tried real f------- hard to beat me." and other such crap. Now the dealer hasn't said a word but starts to get upset and says something...

Same old by mooseontheloose on Mon Aug 21, 2006 9:44 pm GMT
Well I haven't played much poker lately as I'm giving it a small rest while I just read forum/books and try and improve. Will pick it up again later this week when I get the money I'm waiting on.

But today I did play in a local freeroll, 250 people with top prize of $65. Too bad, as usual, it ends in a lame way.

I started out really strong because I switched up my style a bit. The guys in this freeroll were pretty good but were hard to get reads on, some of them were pretty damn LAG. Usually against this type of player I get a little overaggressive when I hit something and I end up making a bad play. Today I played it pretty passively and it worked well early on.

At the first break I was in the top 10, not too shabby. I had a few good hands early on where I made good moves that either paid off or resulted in a good steal. Was feeling very good, better than usual lately. Eventually though I stopped getting cards and the CL to my right was raising 3-5xBB every single hand so I was...

June 4-10 by Dave B on Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:06 am GMT
As requested, I will start a new blog each week and post under accordingly.

Last night brutal, steam control bad, play unlucky and some bad call downs.

Lost 2 SNGs again-did I mention that the last 4 have been on the bubble-especially painful.

Reg limit game I was getting sucked out like crazy. A10 SB vs 33 BB and flop AQ10 and play to check raise after he popped preflop. He checks, turn K, I check now scared and pot too small to get paid off. River 3.

KK 3 bet preflop, flop A73, lose to A7 raiser.

A5 suited limp flop 442 and bet only BB calls. Turn 3, he check raises I 3 bet (he has to have a 4 to raise, right?) he calls. Turn 2, we both check, he shows J2 for bottom pair and a 2 outer.

I am now on major tilt. Screw this, I move up a level and play 6 handed. I am now prepared to blow what I have at the site and go play live if I bust. I win 1/2 of what I lost and a bigger game opens 9 handed. I win back everything I had lost and am up $17 for the night....

Giants Win! by TheSalche on Mon Feb 04, 2008 2:00 am GMT
Woo! Happy to see Brady go down in flames, getting pounded on by the Giants linemen all night.

This has been a long poker weekend, and I've put in over 2000 hands, coming out slightly behind after having a really bad Friday night, okay Saturday and great Sunday. I'm slowly building stamina for longer poker sessions, and right now I'm doing 1.5 to 2 hour sessions before I start to go a bit nuts.

Full Tilt is giving me a nice little $75 bonus that I should be able to clear at least $50 of.

As for my luck recently its been having some weird ups and downs. I've gotten myself into a few bad all-in situations where I got bailed out, but my last 3 OESD+FD hands have missed, including one where I was 200 BB deep against an aggressive opponent who would've paid me off for sure.

Table selection is great for my game ... that's all I've got to say.
