So Far, Still Winning

Permanent Linkby xDiamond_CutteRx on Wed Jul 23, 2008 6:27 pm GMT

I'm up about 2.5 buy-ins so far at 50PLO; as I noted before, the main difference so far is that players are more aggressive than at 25PLO. More pots are getting raised preflop (though still not a ton of 3-betting), and players are a little less prone to getting bullied when they have position. That said, the game is still fairly easy, as a lot of people are overplaying their hands (especially Aces), and overvaluing hands at the wrong time, drawing to straights and flushes on paired boards, etc.

Had a few good turns of luck today. On a T-9-7 board, I bet with a set of 9's after it got checked to me. One guy called, and I checked behind him when a 5 came on the turn. The river was the glorious 9, and he bet pot into me. We got all the money in, and I saw that I one outted his TTxx. Still, if the 9 doesn't come on the river, I probably don't get ALL the money in.

Also made a quads on two additional instances (though not needed either time), and I rivered a straight flush against a guy's nut flush (I already had a straight, so I was ahead anyway). Then there was one really screwy pot I got lucky to win.

I called a raise in the BB with [Ad Ac Qs 9h], and the flop came [Kd 7d 3d]. SB checked, I checked, and the button bet about half pot. SB called. At this point, I decided to run a bluff since I knew no one had the nut flush, and a check-raise should convince them I do. I raised pot, quickly shed the button, and the SB tanked for a bit and called. The turn brough the [2h], he insta-checked, and I potted again, convinced I would shed a set and maybe get this guy to lay down a small flush. Nope, he insta-called, and I thought, "well, shit." River, however, was the [As], and he turned over KKxx for a set of Kings, and I'd two-outted him. Guess it was the wrong guy to try and bluff. Lucky me.

Made Gold Star, but I started getting tired as the day wore on, so I might take a bit of a break, and maybe a day off, at least from PLO. Definitely looking forward to the Turbo Takedown on Sunday though.

I saw. I conquered. I came.
