Book for PLO8?

Postby aaronw » Fri Jun 30, 2006 9:14 pm GMT

I am trying to expand my game past hold'em. I was thinking that PLO8 could possible be interesting. I know the general concept of the game and basic theory and whatnot. However, I was to see if there are any good books out there dedicated to PLO8. Has anyone read any good books or anything like that? Any suggestions? Thanks.

There really isn't that much literature on the game out there. Personally, I think the casinos just invented the game to maximize their rake. I hate PLO8 because it favors the high hands too much, it allows for too many suckouts, and because so many pots end up as heads-up single-way splits, most players just end up shelling out cash to the rake. In loose games, you can make a lot of money, but I doubt this game will ever receive much attention from the pros. And personally, I think you can make a lot MORE cash in the loose limit O8 games.

If you want to expand your game past Hold'em, I suggest learning limit O8 or 7-Card Stud.

supersystem 2 by doyle brunson has a section on omaha 8 or better.
the section was written by bobby baldwin.
there are also some books that may help you by cardoza publishing.

You would be suprised how profitable PLO8 can be to a good player DC. I think I read that juicy games go all the way up to PL$600 before they start to die out or have strong players.

Check our the PLO82k tables on party.

Games such as PLO8 are probaby the juicest around due to the lack of literature on them and the fact that because you have two ways to win the pot you can play more hands. For the last 3 weeks I have been expanding my Omaha play and will continue to do so in all variants of the game.

You may want to check out

"Omaha Poker" - by Bob Ciaffone. He republished this in 2006. I have read about half of it since I got it yesterday and my god some of the things that make sense now that I would have played so ignorantly.

I bought it from his website www.pokercoach.us
