Can anyone recommend some books worth buying for those of us just starting out with online holdem?

Depends what you're looking for...

Tournaments = Harrington on Hold'em

Limit Hold'em Cash games = Small Stakes Hold'em (Sklansky, Malmuth, and Miller)

NL Hold'em Cash = NL Hold'em Theory and Practice (Sklansky and Miller)

Mixed games = Super System 2 (Brunson et al)
