Bristol Hold'em?

Postby leviathan » Sun Aug 29, 2004 7:45 pm GMT

i'm currently studying at UWE and i'm looking for hold'em games to join. Frankly the lower the stakes the better, to begin with. I'm also interested in setting up a poker society at UWE of a formal/informal nature. I know of one casino with a card room, for hire. which might be helpful cos i don't have any of the equpment. the casino doesn't run their own ring games, it does run rebuy tourney (see other bristol post).

**** News Flash: £10 nl holdem home tourney interested? PM me *****

thanks for the reply, i've pm-ed you, i hope. The idea behind the uwe society was to get some live games going. Micro limit or small tourneys, to begin with anyway.

If you’re going to set up a society I’d make sure you clear it with the student union. When I was in my final year of Uni at Aberystwyth some second years tried to start a poker society in the middle of the term, but were shut down. I’m not sure if they forgot to ask for approval or if they were closed down because of the gambling image surrounding the game. If anyone takes issue with it you could always try doing it unofficially, just put up notices advertising home games.

I used to play Texas hold’em tourneys in Bristol too, until I found a casino in Cardiff that was a lot cheaper to get too (damn Seven bridge thieves). The Grosvenor casino in Cardiff Bay runs a range of weekly tourneys starting from a £5 beginners night up to £20. They also host larger buyin events occasionally.
