It does have that "magnet" effect to which is indeed a vacuum. The inlay is slightly indented while the surface is smooth and flat so this allowes the air to be trapped in between the chips. I can stack these chips twice as high as any clay chip. These are honestly the best chips I ever handled and I'm happy with my purchase.

Sorry, but I can't resist the irony and have to post one of my favorite comparisons in describing a BJ V6 chip to one of the China chips.

They're both injection molded plastic, they both have a metal slug in the middle (brass in the case of the BJ), and like some of the chips from China, they also have a label in the center of the chip. :)

I often wonder if that vacuum effect is why some people like the RPT chips better than than Vegas Nexgens. Also wonder if the Nexgens might have better adhesion if they had a smooth surface like the BJs.

How do you like the coin centered BJ's? do they have the same vacuum effect? how do they feel compared the MGM for example?

The MGM chips have a angled edge unlike most other BJ chips.

Boy, it's difficult to describe in words the difference between the coin-centered and the decal chips.

Many of the coin-centered are a slightly less-expensive/older model V6 chip, while most of the decal chips are a V7 chip. I don't know if there is a difference in the actual material, or what. The V7 chips have more choices in the rim and insert design, and thus usually look better.

But look at two nearly identical V7 chips -- the New Frontier decal (bottom middle in the classic pic) and the Viking Serenade coin chip (2nd from the right in the coins). They have the exact same mold design.

The coin sounds a little more metallic but not cheap, and the decal sounds just about like a clay Paulson. The molded plastic material seems the same. But all the coin chips appear to have very sharp edges, where the decal chips seem to have a more rounded/beveled edge. They both stand on their edge, but the coin chips seem to have a sharp 90* rim. And you're right -- the MGM chips have a much more rounded edge than other BJs.

The decal chips feel "softer" to me, and I like them better. They look better, they sound better, and they feel a little better, probably due to the beveled edge. But the coin chips are damn fine chips, too. And all BJs are nearly indestructible.

That Flamingo chip you have should sound closer to clay than any other style BJ chips. The current LV Hilton chips are the "cheaper" BJ chips that PaulsonChips was looking for. Those are the closest chips to sounding like clay while being almost indestructible.

I would love to get my hands on a playable set of MGM Grand BJ. They are sold on ebay in pairs or single. Anyone have an idea where I make be able to pick up a bunch at a time?

Snowmen, that 1st chip of the classics is a Flamingo chip from Las Vegas. It's an 8-stripe style BJ and a nice playable chip.

See the Flamingo page: http://www.silver-state-treasures.com/l ... minghc.htm

The 10th chip down is the 60th anniversary chip I have, but the 9th chip down appears to be the same -- their current house $5 chip with a different inlay. You could probbably get all these you want.

If you look at the 3rd chip, it is their current blue $1 chip. It's the BJ "24 line" chip with 12 small edges spots, a neat chip but not quite the same style as the house $5.

Actually it sounds like the Cantebury's you were looking at have the best variety of looks. These are awesome chips: http://www.chipguide.com/cgi-bin/search ... ?id=mnshcc
