C betting almost every time?

Postby carmine782 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:17 pm GMT

Hi, did anyone ever play against an aggressive player that c-bets almost every time he raises? How do you defend against this?

Also, do you think its a good strategy to do this? you almost never know what the guy has.

Sounds like you regularly call his pf raise then fold to the c-bet if you never know what he has. Fold less, call/raise more.

What Geno said. Call and see what he does on the turn if he still cbets everyone or just checks and gives it up. You could try raising the flop. The first option is cheaper.

Doing anything all the time is exploitable.

It seems to be working for this guy and it can work pretty well much of the time depending on your opponents which is why it is a good idea to play back at someone doing this. As crack says, if you take him a street further and take note of how he plays from then on, you will not only get a better idea of what he is holding when raising pre-flop but you will lower his propensity to do it with crap as he knows he will face resistance from you rather than getting every flop c-bet through.

So... it's not really one strategy that you can use all the time, but watch your opponents and find out how to exploit them?

Many aggressive players will push the envelope until they get push back. He is c-betting all his preflop raises, and you never either call the flop and see what develops on the turn or raise the flop, that means you are folding. Aggressive players will keep stealing pots until you give them a reason not to, and why not? Its very profitable for them to do so if you don't play back sometimes... Either that or tighten up your preflop range when facing them, or reraise more preflop.
