Calling the big blind

Last night at my weekly game there was a bit of a rule contention. Fortunately it is a friendly game (mostly) and no one got stabbed...

Anyway, here is the question:

In heads-up texas hold'em play with blinds at 50/100 the small blind is the dealer and is first to act;

If the dealer/small blind "calls" (i.e. puts in his 50 blind + 50 more) does the big blind player get a chance to raise before the flop? Or is it treated as a normal call and the flop comes without the big blind being able to act?

The big blind is live and can raise.

yes but does the big blind put in 100 or 150?? given that big blind amount is 100 and raise was 50, does he have to put in the extra 50 to match the raise or is it sufficient to just put in big blind?

I think I'm right in saying that if the BB were to raise it would be $100 because the bet called by the SB was a $100 bet.

more questions:

1) every subsequent player must put in the $100 to see the flop, correct?

2) what if you have only 2 players remaining? is one player the dealer and also the big blind as well?

question 1 yes if more raises are made anyone wanting to see the flop must call the amount or go all in if they don't have enough $$ to call

question 2) In heads-up play, the small blind is the button and acts first before the flop and last after the flop. The player who does not have the button will de dealt the first card.

wow...read that link...it's a bit above my head. i was under the impression that the button is always moving forward and that button always bets last before the flop.

is that page just dealing with the weird situation you get when you're down to 3 players and someone is busting out? it's pretty hard to follow.

another question occurred to me....we're starting a hand...limits poker. mimimum bet is $100. so SB must give $50, BB must give $100. is there any reason at all for SB to 'raise' it to $100?? he is not raising it for the big blind--BB still only has to give $100 to see the flop, right?

am i right in thinking that SB gets to see the flop as long as he puts in half the minimum bet and nobody raises?

the big blind does not have to put in additional funds to see the flop if there are only callers. the small blind must put in $50 in order to see the flop. (small blind of $50+$50 call bet) for the rest of the table it's $100 to see the flop. (assuming no raises)

if small blind CALLS he puts in 50 more. if he RAISES he puts in 150 to make it 200 total. big blind then checks, calls or raises depending on what small blind did. if small blind only call big blind checks or raises. if small blind raises then big blind calls the raise(100 more) or raises(puts in 200 more to make it 300)

so small blind must CALL, RAISE, or FOLD before the big blind takes his first turn, right? not only does he have to fork over at least $50 to seed the pot, he has to assess his pocket cards first.
