cash game lessons..

Postby Ciso_B » Thu Sep 24, 2009 11:43 pm GMT

So I had it rough tonight, and am down like $350 or so, (mostly from flips , AK < JJ, QQ < AK) etc. Then right near end of night , i find myself pulling even and even squeeze out small profit, only $50 or so, but considering the beats/cooler/flips i lost, was alright with that.

Then i come up stairs and think f*ck it, people in america will be tired, and i play a bit more, and consequently lose $200 back... Dont play longer than u need to ciso :(

btw, why do i run so bad still even in cash ? :( no fair imo

I hate that you have to flip in today's online games. They really need to make the games deeper.

I know this reply is technically wrong, but since you are judging your poker ability on one days results, my answer is based around the same strategy.

I think your playing the 50 and 100NL right?

Do you need to be putting yourself in situations where you are 'flipping' at all? You've got all your money into the middle at least 4 times (preflop i assume) on the cash tables today.

With your poker knowledge and experience, I would of thought it would be better for you to spend less time getting your money in the middle preflop and concentrating on winning marginal hands on the turn and river.

I'm sure people like miaowmiaowchowface will disagree with this answer, but it seems to me that these levels are beatable long term with a little time and patience, so (because you are judging your results over one day) why bother putting yourself in a situation where you could lose five coin flips and concentrate on situations where your poker skill comes into play.

I ll try this for 1 month....then im headin back to mtt if i dont see an improvement.

gotta know when to stop, bout to finish 11 hour shift.... and im pretty impressed with myself.. not broken anything! admittedly i cudda stopped earlier , but i think i only tilted for 30 mins total. Dont recall giving up more than $30 on the odd bad call. I think im down around 6/7 buyins, so like $600/$700. If i had to be brutally honest,I'd say i should be about $100 down. I havent played amazing all night, and consdiering i havent made any huge hands, except the coolers/beats i've took, then u shud be on the end of a losing sesssion right? I pulled some money out of ps,cos i dont need x amount of buyins for this limit.

Poker is a sick game tho, i4 tabled and sometimes 6 tabled tonight to exploit as much as i can, and i still end up that much down. So sick.

It's interesting though your thoughts on Cash Tables compared to Tourneys.

I see tourneys as being really sick. You sit there for hours playing a solid game and then get knocked out on a bad beat and leave with nothing, yet you suggest you would rather do this, than grind away at the cash tables.

Due to time issues, I have never been able to commit more than a few hours to a game, therefore have never played anything more than a 45 seater sng's. My biggest cash has been around $14!!! Therefore cash has always been my thing.

I might try and find some time to start playing tourneys. Just to see how my mind-set handles that format.

Interesting.

its been more of the same tonight, i dunno , maybe im dilluded about my play, its possible, but ive lost so many buyins on silly hands again, like top 2 pair vs set, flop wheel with 23s in blinds and the guy has 36 on A245 etc... I m moving over to ftp again.

I hate moving sites all the time, but seriously, am i really that bad a player?

Im willing to give cash games a month, if i dont seemaking good money/living im moving to mtts, at least there the bad beats and coolers didnt cost me lots of money.
