Change in THP Web Page Display?

Postby Casey ATB » Tue Mar 06, 2007 8:31 pm GMT

Hi:

For the past couple of days, the THP pages will not entirely display on my screen. Each time I pull up a page, I have to scroll left and right to see the entire page. This has never happened before, and it's only happening on THP. Any ideas? Thanks. :?

Sounds like your screen is 800x600, correct?

Since such a small percentage of users today are <1024, the new layout is a little wider. That's what is causing this on the smaller resolutions.

I'm with Casey. Although I have plenty of screen space, I usually have several windows open and my bookmarks in a sidebar, so I find the window size the new design requires annoying. Plus why does it need to be so wide, there's like 100 px of space there in the top banner that's just empty space.

Wouldn't be too hard to make that stretchy, then it would work at any reasonable window size.

Problem with 'stretchy' design here is that the main site was designed with absolute positioning: allowing the divs to strecth out would skew the entire layout because of this.

Sid just mentioned that he'll likely scribble in an alternate layout/skin for the site for the narrower resolutions.

Thanks for the replies. I changed my display resolution to accomodate the new layout.

sorry about that again...when i was designing the site i was focused on the regular content like beginner's intro and odds charts...in those cases, if you have 800x600 it will leave out the right sidebar, which isnt a huge loss...unfortunately for forum, 800x600 users it will be annoying...also since that resolution is a small shrinking minority, i was hoping it would disappear within a year more or less...i suppose i should make a new skin tho for low-res ppl...
