Coming back... big MTT tourney

Postby General Sal » Sat Dec 29, 2007 5:29 pm GMT

So, I'm just messing around with this game... I'm wondering if you guys make this same play.

Basically, the same guy I go up against in this hand had raised on the button...the big blind re-raised all-in, and the guy folded. He tries it again... and I figure... why not give it a shot? Creatures of habit, right? The blinds are high...all the donkeys are in the money. I've just sat down... so they don't know how i play.

Would you guys make this play? Is this a +EV play?

considering your stack size, yeah I'd push. Hopefully he has two unpaired cards which aren't a 10 or a J.

I doubt you have much fold equity, but given your stack size I agree... this might be as good as it gets.

i personally wait for something that is a suited connector or a pair or overs. i just dont like reshoving w/ offsuit connectors.

Hmmm...with antes and blinds, you have
$2500 chips. He raises to $3000. So far... $5500 in pot.

I re-raise to 7708 all-in. He's got in for $3000. He pays $5000 more to win about 10K. I think I did the math right... effectively, he's gtting 2:1.

Still... I could have him dominated. Although, I think he was thinking I have some kind of pair and he decided to be the 2.5:1 dog.

He had [Ad,3h]

Its very close, depending on the player.. if he is the raise any2 in lp once antes kick in type of player i likely to throw caution to the wind and gamble it up. but against an unknown or a tight player i will not shove a weak hand with no fold equity

yeah, I much rather open shove a worse hand then 3bet shove with no FE with semi decent hands. For what its worth, in this situation I might even fold A2-A7.

I really try to avoid getting so low, but sometimes the table is so aggressive and you are so card dead you will need to find a hand you like and gamble.

Here is how I look at it, you just posted the big blind, so you've got another round to wait for a better spot. Though you are very short, you are still deep enough to hurt half of the players at the table.

It's about 12K so about 2.5:1 he can take a shot with almost any two. Bad spot IMO.

I dont like the shove, you're gettin called for sure, and I'd prefer to push and pick up dead money with a suited connector, Kx,Ax, anything rather then a weak hand where i know im getting called less im forced to. Dont know if this is -ev or +ev I just know I wouldn't shove here.

Great experiment, but I hate it. Fold equity is a short stack's best friend.
