Continuation bet, push all-in or check?
I didn't get very far in my last tourney. I was small stacked throughout and always seemed in a position where I was facing stacks far larger than my own.
I am trying to identify areas where I should of tried to accumilate more chips and where i should of sat tight. I'm guessing I should of attacked this hand more, but where?
I'm thinking ciso would have pushed all-in pre flop and I'm guessing miaowmiaowchowface would have deffinatley got his chips in on the flop.
Does anyone suggest I check?
Opinions please

Re: Continuation bet, push all-in or check?
You have like 12bb,I'd prolly just shove, you have no play post flop with this stack size and unless you hit you have to do somethin gay like chk and try showing down or bet/folding when u whiff. Also though, A-J is strong enough that u can get called by worse (with current state of poker) imo, so yeh,I'd shove this preflop.
If I riased, I wouldn't have raised 3x with this stack, I mighta done a smaller raise then you can get away with puttin a probe/small flop bet in without jeopardising your entire stack.
Don't worry about this hand rly, spots to accumulate are simply utilising position and finding sitautions to pick up chips without having to be all in and called .i.e. showdown poker. If you are paying attention to the table close enough and note people who are playing too fast or too nitty , you ll see the situations come up.
If you don't even when payin attention, then you prolly lack "feel" or poker instinct.
Just use information u have at the table in realtime.
I got a tournament book at home somewhere, forgot the title, but it delves into "chip utlity" , maybe I'll post alot of its preachings (altho simple ,are very useful) in the future.

As always ciso, thanks for the indepth reply.
Ok, is 2xbb ok, or are we looking at 2.5xbb min?Ciso_B wrote:If I riased, I wouldn't have raised 3x with this stack, I mighta done a smaller raise then you can get away with puttin a probe/small flop bet in without jeopardising your entire stack.
I'm guessing you are therefore trying to find stacks that won't find back right. So, (and i know this may sound stupid), but I'm guessing I don't want to play the massive stacks (who can afford to call) or the small stacks (who will push all-in) right?Ciso_B wrote:...... utilising position and finding sitautions to pick up chips without having to be all in.....
All help welcome, thanks.Ciso_B wrote:I got a tournament book at home somewhere, forgot the title, but it delves into "chip utlity" , maybe I'll post alot of its preachings (altho simple ,are very useful) in the future.

Probably just fold or ship depending on the time left on the level and what the players to act after are playing like. Like Baldo says, you have no post flop play available.
I don't agree with raising smaller then probing the flop, that is just chip spewing because you'll need 1/4 your stack min to do it.

True, but vs low stakes, alot of the time , it ll fold to bb who ll call then check/fold any flop that doesnt hit them. But vs compotent players , 100 % agree its not good.
Yes im up still...watchin the election
