Custom WSOP chips...
Custom WSOP chips...
Hi, great info on this board, this is my first post...
So, I'm obsessed with the horseshoe's WSOP chips. I really like the colors and the variety of designs/edgespots etc. Unfortunately, no one sells anything like them...
So, since I have nothing better to do, I DVRed a bunch of 2004 WSOP episodes on ESPN and spent a lot of time sketching out the designs of all the chips I could find based on still frames (recorded in HD, so I got a perfect view).
I have five different chip designs/colors sketched out and before I put in the time to create high quality EPS or TIF images that could be used to make custom chips, I'd like to know if anyone has experience with ordering FULLY custom chips like the ones on www.thechipstore.com. (Mind you that the borders/edges must be custom too and that the five different chips I want are different colors with different copy). How much should I expect to pay for them? Is there any better manufacturer that does totally custom chips? Is there a better way to get chips that are like the supercool ones used in the WSOP?

Don't go with thechipstore. Do a few searches on this forum and you'll see why. Go with homepokerchips.com if you want Chipco chips (same that chipstore uses).
Additionally, if you use a reputable company to do the chips, they wont let you use the WPT name or logo because it's copyrighted. You'll have to alter it in order to get them to let you use it.

Well a few of us were talking about doing a buy from TR King, so if you have a design that you want to take further this would be a great time. TR King, as to my understanding is the ONLY manu. that will do custom chips with multi coloured edge spots (not counting Blue Chip CO of course!) so they are a good bet. Post some images of what you have done and we'll get people together and get a good deal!

Ok, so I did some preliminary work on the TIFs that would be needed for production because I'd like to get others' opinions. Here are the first four I've worked on (these are just the border designs that are used in WSOP, the colors are certainly not exact and will need some tweaking and I haven't attempted any kind of center artwork). Let me know what you think!

Well, I've already noticed that the $500 hot pink chip is not exactly right (i did the prelims from memory, now I found my original sketches) so go easy on me, I'll put up some more polished pics and also the designs on the rolling edges soon.

YOU ARE THE MAN xlhrider!!
WOW GREAT JOB THERE xlhrider!!!
this has also been a dream of mine to own chips exactly like the WSOP!! WOW unbelievable that someone else is on the same page as me! you are the first person i have found that wants this set as much as i do.
i started another post before. check it out. http://www.texasholdem-poker.com/forum/ ... site-chips
of course in a perfect world we would be able to go to bud jones directly and be able to buy these chips as customizable. let me just say that its goign to be hard to replicate the edge spots of these chips. check out this http://www.gpigaming.com/pdf/US_Chips.pdf
will help you with picking the right colors
I will DEFINATELY buy a set of 1000 chips if you make them.

another thing, the black chip has orange edge spots not yellow. in the WSOP they are worth 5000. in this custom set we can make them 100. and the $5 chips used in WSOP are just plain paulsons with hot stamp and no edge spots. we can make up something more fancy than that.
have u thought about the insert? i have some ideas myself, mimicking the WSOP design.
btw, the design on the black chip was also used for the WPT Bellagio championships where Martin deKniff won. the desing was used on all 3 chips onthe table. Orange/black, red/white, blue/white.
and one last thing. are you putting denoms on them? i would say no. the WSOP does not use denoms. so i dont want denoms!

If there are no denoms, we can make them whatever we would want, be it 100 or 5 or 1000000, etc

denoms as in the $ sign
i thought thatas what it meant but guess not. in other threads they use the term denom to mean $ or no $ sign
definatetly put the value there. but no the $ sign. in WSOP they dont put $ sign. the chips say No Cash Value. i would be using thees chips for my home tournaments, therefore the denoms are useless. i use crystal oysters for my cash games.
