Dealer Error at Local Casino - Any Options?

Earlier tonight at the local casino in LA I was involved in a fairly sizeable pot ($400) at the 2-3 NL game where me and another guy ended up chopping since my K7 vs his K3 kickers didn't play - the board was K J 4 6 10. Don't ask me why I didn't catch the mistake at the time but about 5-10 hands later I realized what had happened. I pointed out the mistake to a guy sitting next to me and he confirmed that we both remembered the same board and that the dealer should have shipped all the chips to me. I asked the guy who got my chips whether he knew the dealer made the error at the time and he said he just figured the dealer was correct in chopping. I agreed with him and just said that it was my own fault for not catching it myself when it was all going down. The dealer didn't say a word. I dropped it right then but was steaming inside for giving the dude a $200 freebie.

Ok, so I guess my question is could I have done anything (call the floorman over, etc) when I realized what happened or was the play dead as soon as the next hand started to be dealt? Obviously both hands were shown so a camera could have easily confirmed the error. I just want to know what is usually done in situations like this as this is the first time something like this has happened to me.

I don't know for sure, but taking a wild stab, I would say as soon as your cards are swipped up by the dealer it's Good night Vienna.

I agree. The casino likely has a get out clause in their rules to cover such mistakes (If it was a game like blackjack against the house though you might have a chance).

However if you mention it to an official you might get an apology and maybe a comp’ed meal. I doubt they would bother even checking the tapes they’d just do it for good customer relations.

But the dealer may cop a warning for the mistake, then again they deserve it really.

IIRC I remember there was a big commotion about a hand. I wasn't even at the table but I caught the end of it. It seemed like someone misread their cards and said he had Jacks up beat or something. The guy showed the jacks up to one or two players and then mucked it. Then someone noticed he didn't have J's up beat and the floor was called over. The floor person kept the pot and the security footage was checked to see if they saw the Jacks up tabled.

The guy got pissed because it was two asians involved and he was said something like "typical asians looking after each other at the table" coz it was another Asian who said she saw his hand.

Anyway, I can't remember what the final outcome was but it seems kind of similar to your situation. Would they do something like this in LA? I doubt it. I found the floor/games/dealers/rake and everything else about 25x worse in LA than Vegas.

I kind of think you need to catch this at the time or there isn't really anything you can do about it. I guess you have learnt your lesson and will be a lot more observant and not just trust the dealer to do their job.
