Don't play poker online!
After losing $250 in 45 minutes of bad beats and dealing with slow players and cheats, I am retiring from online poker.
I only post this in realization that poker like any form of gambling is just gambling. If anyone in these forums truely believes that they possess some kind of skill, they are sadly mistaken. The only true way to win in online poker is to cheat. If you think you have never been cheated, your wrong again. If you think that you never joined a table with 3 people working together or 1 guy with multible computers playing multiple hands, your a damn fool. If you think that the online casinos protect you in any way, your a punk sucker.
I quit online poker knowing I am up. If your up, quit now. If your down, cheat.

Bad beats happen, but that doesn't mean you're constantly being cheated.
Running this site, I know alot of people inside the poker rooms, and there are measures in place to protect against collaboration at the tables. In some ways, you're even more protected than in a brick-and-mortar card room, since the computer can tell if you're folding a strong hand to your partner... In a live casino, you can never tell.
If you're really afraid of collaboration, play heads up.
As for cheating, if you're down, please don't. You won't get any better that way. And if you get caught, don't expect any simpathy from the card rooms.
They'll ban you in a heartbeat, and possibly withhold your winnings. Same as a land based card room.

The casino servers know if someone is folding a good hand? You must be smoking crack from yard sales if you think thats true. Further, collusion has little to do with who has the best hand and more to do with team raising to bump up pots.
I play on a play site with 3 friends using Roger Wilco. We can dominate a table of 10 easily.

I'm sorry this has happened to you, but there is nothing really anyone can do here. So, yelling at them will not help anything.

u sound a little paranoid zito, these sites keep records of play and analyze player history, especially when you withdraw. Ive never cheated poker sites and have done well; but, ive had my account flagged and received confirmation phone calls and such because my roomates and i use the same i.p. address. they have also questioned why i happened to be at the same table as another player who seems to follow me around. Im not sure of the other sites, but partypoker.com keeps hand histories
im gonna keep making easy money online

I have even reported cheaters and was threatened for even making accusations (partypoker). Another "reputable" site admitted to me that they can't control collusion. Unless you have personally been to barbados or wherever these casinos hide and seen their systems, you don't have a clue. All they care about is the rake. Further, this is a "forum" (look the defintion up in a dictionary if you don't know what it means). I'll say whatever I want.

Hey Zito,
How is collusion prevented in a brick-and-mortar card room? Cameras? Player observation? Yeah, right, like the fish at the $4/$8 would have a clue they were being worked.
Fact is, online card rooms are better at controlling collusion than land-based card rooms. Add to that the sheer volume of new players who feel more comfortable playing online and all in all I'd say online card rooms are much easier to profit from.

Zito, we understand that you are rather upset by all this but please try and keep it off a personal level. You began this thread, people have replied in a perfectly reasonable manner so far so please try and extend them the same courtesy.
That aside, I personally think that (reputable) online poker is as safe or more so than brick and mortar card rooms bcos like people have said, they can use their software to monitor movements of players, track IP addresses, withdrawals etc and have a better idea if collusion is occuring.
I personally think that people who level accusations of cheating at online card rooms fail to grasp the fact that the play is a lot faster than real life and hence with the increased number of hands you will see per hour, funny coincidences, prolific bad beats etc are part and parcel of that way of playing. You just have to accept that online poker is a nice resource but since it is intangible, u will always feel a certain detachment from the game and as such accusations are easier to make but most likely completely unfounded.

No1 has censored your input. Censorship here is only ever used when rules are broken which are in place to protect the parties involved in the forum so it's really for your own good.
This isn't a witch hunt, calm down, it's a poker forum remember. If u no longer wish to be part of the site then that is a shame but u have to simply not post here again to achieve that. I certainly won't be removing any of ur posts.

He's right Zito, the only time a "censorship" as you put it is called for here is when someone advertises without asking or does something out of line against parties involved. Believe me I know. These guys run a great site and if you took a bad beat so be it, get over it. The whole world's not out to get you. If you have a problem with this forum fine, don't post. I find it very helpful so i'll keep coming back.

Zito, i have one word for you, Prozac. I know you are upset about card rooms online, and we all appreciate your free speech on the matter, but you dont have to rag on someone, you called Carson, a few names. I dont really want to sink to your level, but I have a size 18 shoe, and that would be uncomfortable, try sitting and playing poker anywhere after that insertion. Otherwise just be calm, this is a wonderful site and the people who graciously run it, do so with no compensation from us. So be grateful, and dont diss on a service that is FREE. I most enjoy this site and check in a half dozen times a day atleast. Here is some advice, goto UltimateBet.com and play there my name is TheLegendary, ill show you that card rooms are legit. If not, want some kleenex its on me.
As for Carson, Genocidal and others who run this site. My apologies for the ranting and raving on this post, just pisses me off someone could be so ungrateful for such a great place to hang out. Perfect example of the saying dont chit where you eat.

Online poker is extremely beatable. If you're not winning, it's because you can't play poker.
What do you do if you can't play poker? Quitting, as you've indicated, is a perfectly good choice. Why throw away money? The other option is to learn how to play. Read, study, ask questions, play. WORK to improve your game. I didn't stroll off the golf course one day and start making a killing on the suckers at Party Poker...since 1995, I've been playing a shitload of poker in home games and in Vegas. The people in my home games want to improve as badly as I do, and we work at it. The people in Vegas want to take my money and MAKE me work at it.
I also spent a lot of time learning about statistics, not to the point where I've memorized the odds that I have the best hand with top pair and an overcard against two callers on the flop, but to the point where I can make decisions with confidence instead of going with gut feelings because I don't believe the figures.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking you only lose because of something unfair. Losing means you suck...improve or quit.
