Extra Burn Card

I was playing tonightand while in the hand I saw and extra burn card thrown accidentilly before the river.

The extra burn cause me to lose the hand, my opponent hit a straight and I lost with two pair.

Cards were counted and indeed and extra burn was identified. However the final decision is the cards that were on the table are what played irregardless, since they could not determine which burn was the correct final card.

I feel I got screwed on this one. What are the official rules on this?

It will vary from casino to casino. I found that unfortunately who generally shouts the loudest will get the decision in their favour.

But I read a rule that staes the two ofending card are place back in the pack shuffled and then the last two card cards re-delivered.
