favorite flop....
OK, lets here it. What is your favorite flop??? Throw out flopping 4 of a kind w/ a pocket pair, a full house, a nutz str8 or a nutz flush-those are too easy.
Here is the one that makes my eyes light up: suited hand, and flop the top pair and a flush draw. Say Kc 10c and the flop is 10d 5c 4c. Right away I think...alright...lets play some poker.
What do are other hands that people like to play? Flopping 2 pair? A set off of a low pocket pair?
I also love Js for some reason, j 10 or j 9 suited seem to be big hands for me.

What's up Dave. I have to admit I'm a sucker when it comes to J 7o. I know it's a pretty weak hand but there's just something about it and I do seem to win alot with it. My favorite flop is when I have my trusty J 7 and the flop comes J 7 and a high card like A or K. Yeah you're beaten by big slick and pkt A's and K's but that guy with an A or K bets into you all the way to the river. I slow play it to the river then hit him hard. You should see their face when they turn over that A or K and you turn that lowly J 7. Later

I know this is a flop question, but I don't have a favourite flop, I have favourite hands tho which can flop nicely!
I'm a massive fan of pocket 7s for some reason bcos I have a gr8 track record with them and I always seem to flop a 7 which cheers me right up. One of my faves tho is to flop a 2 with pocket ducks cos it's very rare that ne1 sees it coming and u can often beat players hard-playing hands like Big Slick or a high pocket pair (not tripped on the board) which is also nice

Played 2 sit and gos last night, once I had Jc9c, flop Ah 4c 5c. 4-5 players in, turn is J river is 9, I take in a big pot.
Twice I had a flush draw and the top pair, won one w/ top pair and won the other with a bet on the turn.
Ballbp-I could have been really pissed at you! I was getting J 7 offsuit all night long. It was a battle to fold the hand everytime-but I managed to do it.

Hahaha I know what you mean Dave. Most people don't have to think twice about folding that J 7o, but it's just one of those that I myself play because it somehow works out for me most of the time. I think I'm going to start keeping track of how many times it works or doesn't. I take it none of the times you folded it you would have won or you would have said so. I know what you're saying too Gen. This is pretty much a favoite flop question too. As far as pkt pairs are concerned, I like pkt 6's. It seems everytime I get them a 6 comes sooner or later. Only problem is when I get them I sometimes pay alot waiting on that third one but it's another one I have trouble folding.

When I used to play at uni with the same guys for 9 months, J8 became the most revered hand of the lot. We had a beatiful moment:
A guy called Mark, or The Elegance as he prefers to be called cos he loves Joe Beevers natch, was in the lead in the league and had been playing solid for weeks grinding out high points scoring results and remaining top with seemingly little effort. He found himself in a hand with a river that read A,9,10,A,7. Having raised the turn hard, Mark found himself heads up against just one other player - Tom or Jac Arama as we all called him.
Tom raised Mark all-in after the river fell. Mark, known for his long and often correct deliberations, deconstructed the hand in front of him and flipped his cards to show Big Slick. At this point he hadn't yet called so Tom remained staid.... Mark said the immortal words that haunted him forever "There's no way you've played J,8 to here and called. Of course, Tom had exactly that and Mark was dumped out of the game that week in last place. He never played as well in the league from then on in and 12 weeks later, I walked away with the almighty trophy and bragging rights. Forever, J8 will be my favourite hand to win with I think

I love flopping a set with a small pocket pair. Especially when someone raised pre-flop with a big Ace and hit top pair. They'll usually bet you hard the whole way and if they make two pair or trips on the turn or river you can usually get them for some extra big bets.

those low pairs, flopping a set are especially fun when AA comes on the flop. You know that some w/ the A thinks they have the hand won.
I really pissed off a guy yesterday w/ pocket 6s, flopped a set and made a boat as he hit his 3 kings. He bitched about me not playing a strong hand preflop and not respecting his raise on a limit $10 sit and go. I was already in for $15 and he could only raise $30 preflop. So I called.
He went on to play 88 and 33 preflop. Like those hands are SOOOO much better.

Ok Dave B!!!! I know this doesn't mean too much in live games but I pulled out the old notebook and tracked how many times my J 7o pocket would have won tonight and yes the flops were gracious with J's and 7's but it would have won 80% of the time. FOUR BOATS and top pair 4 times. Of course it's not a good starting hand playing no limit but in limit games, which I prefer, it seems to work out well. I'm sure I'll get blasted on this by everyone but I had to see how it faired. I'll keep up with it now and it will probably end up being a long term loser but I just had to let you know the first nights results.
See you later

ballbp,
Do you honestly think a sample of 10 hands is an accurate way to test the long-term expected value of a hand? I hate to say it, but I love having guys like you at my table. Do you believe in "hot seats" and "bad dealers" too? I bet you ask for deck changes and set-ups everytime you lose a couple of hands.
In most situations QJ offsuit is a loser, and you're singing the praises of J7? Hilarious.
In regards to your thoughts about the difference between no-limit and limit starting hands, you have it backwards. In no-limit you need to keep your opponents guessing, predictability is an absolute killer in that game. The only time I'd ever consider playing J7 offsuit is in no-limit or a very short-handed limit game.

This is just a running joke we have been going back and forth on DDier. Take it easy. I'm not singing praises of the hand just thought it was funny how the FEW hands turned out. I even said I would get blasted on this so I'm not surprised at your response. Thanks for the input.
