Final Hand problem of a game i played

Postby cadman2871 » Sun Jul 30, 2006 3:07 pm GMT

Here is the Scenerio :

3 players left in the game.

Chip Leader had : A of spades and 10 of diamonds
Middle stack had : 8 of hearts and 3 of clubs
short stack had : J of diamonds and 7 of clubs

the chip leader called all in and the other two players called the all in so the 2 smaller stacks were truely all-in.

the flop came : A of diamonds, 6 of hearts and 2 of clubs
the turn came : Q of spades
the river came : 9 of hearts

that gave the chip leader: A , A , Q , 10 , 9
the middle stack : A , Q , 9 , 8 , 6
the small stack : A , Q , J , 9 , 7

so the chip leader won the hand and busted the other two remaining players, the question is, who comes in second, the small stack because they had the A, Q , J over the middle stacks A , Q , 9 ? Or would the middle stack win second place because they had more chips invested in the hand because they had more chips than the small stack even though they had the weaker hand under the small stack?[/b]

Whoever had more chips comes in second, no matter the hand in that situation.

I believe...But I'm not sure.

yep chip count before the hand counts.
I hope this is a made up example and not a real style of play :)

In this situation, there is a side pot. Winner here takes all, but shortest stack going in could not cover the second stacks wager. When the pot is rewarded, short man goes out first (main pot eliminates short stack, side pot eliminates second stack).
