Did the forums on this site change or is it more browser, before there would be a orange thing next to a post if I didnt read it. It would go away once a read it but now, it goes when i login. It was nice when I could tell what post or forum catorgories I didnt read yet.

The 'orange thing' is related to cookies in ur browser. Assuming u r logged in, the forum detects when u last visited and flags up all threads that have had a reply since then and changes the icon from white to orange. Make sure u r logged in and/or lower ur Internet security settings in case ur broswer is blocking the THP cookie.

there's a caviat to that though geno...
by default, the cookie will reset itself every so often. i think the default setting is 24 hours... but it might be set differently here.
if you come, read up, leave, and them come back 24 hours and 1 minutes later... the cookie will have reset itself. if in that 1 minute there have been no new posts, nothing is going to show up as new.
i also believe that the cookie is also going to reset itself every time you log out, and every time you clear your cookies... so keep that in mind as well. if you don't check the "auto login" (or whatever it says next to that check box) you're not going to remain logged in once you leave and the cookie will be cleared when you log back in again.
there's a hack that will change how this functions so that topics remain marked unread no matter what... until you actually read them (or mark them read). it changes the way phpBB handles the new posts and makes it a database side issue rather than a cookie issue. it works quite well but is quite extensive. i've installed it on a number of forums for people and have had to tinker with it each time in order to get it working properly for them.
not tha anyone cared for that much information... but there you go.
lol
