George Carlin RIP you old bastard

Postby supafrey » Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:46 am GMT

This is the first time I've ever cried because of a stranger. This man was sort of a hero to me.

By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me - they're cramming for their final exam.

It's not wholly surprising since he really hasn't looked good the past couple years, but terribly sad nonetheless.

He was one of those rare people that could make u laugh and think at the same time.

The world is a sadder, less intelligent place without him.

I saw him live in Chicago about 2 years ago.

Even though we differ radically on many issues, I always loved his material. He was a great show.

He didnt look the best though, like Sean, not shocked at his passing.

He will be missed.

Well written supa.

Sirius Radio did a two day tribute to Carlin, including playing him nonstop for about 12 hours. During that time they did not repeat any skits. His body of work is indeed huge. According to one of the DJ's, Carlin has 24 published albums, several HBO specials, and his family has possession of some 200 recordings of his live shows. Again, according to the DJ all of those tapes are unique material as well. If this is true, we may very well be hearing from carlin for a long time to come.
