Getting an informal poker league together?
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting a little poker league going.
maybe 20 - 30 people meet once a month or something for a $25 buy in no limits tournament (we'd start players with more than $25 in chips and play til only one remains) and just split the proceeds from the last 6 players or something.
I'm talking for the southern ontario Region. Anywhere from around Toronto to Niagara, or down by the lakes (port dover, norfolk county etc.)
If you're interested please drop me an email at Dave@blurredreality.ca and if we get enough interest we can get something going.

I am in London and organize regular tourneys. Would love to get hooked up in your league.
Can you send me some info?

By the way you should come out to my tourny on Sat the 15th. NL Hold'em $60 buy-in.

I appreciate the offer, however I have some concerns over how your touney is run. I don't want to tell you how to run your tourney, but it appears that the house has a "take" . By posting an open invite on the net are you not worried about what kind of clientelle you might attract?

I have to say I am a little upset with your accusation of a take. I organize these so far small tourneys (22 players played the main tourney) for the pure pleasure of playing in them myself. I do pay for everything out of the buy-in but no one has any problems with that. I you would have emailed me I would sent you an email outlining everything. If I really wanted to make money running organized poker it would not be running tourneys. Why do you think casinos rarely run tourneys? Simply because there is much more money that take in ring games. Anyway it is really to bad you didn’t come out to see the tourney. If you are a regular player you would have been able to enjoy an entire day why what turned to be a really fun group of players.
As for worry about what kind of clientele (just players to me) I attract ... of course I worry about it but I have a core group a friends that play in these tourneys and I also started having someone come out and help run things. Therefore if anyone was willing to try cheat over such a small amount of money they would be taking a very large risk. I let everyone know that by treating you are probably taking the chance of getting your ass handed to you.
In summary I asked if you could send me some information on your league as I am still interested in joining. I then asked you to come and check out my tourney. You were an a$$h@le with your accusations. No hard feelings though. As I said before I am usually up for a game and would love information on your league if it still possible to join. Drop me an email at Jamie_Heskin@rogers.com

Jimmi,
No harm was meant by my comments (not accusations) I wasn't implying that you were "raking" I was only suggesting that "legally" it could be conceived that there was a "take". I was just trying to warn you that you may put yourself in a sticky situation. I am not an a$$hole. I was offering what I thought was constructive criticism. I apologize if you were offended. I am truly glad that your tourney went over so well. Perhaps I will make it to your next one.

low buy in no limit league
I'm interested in just what Dave was talking about. Low buy in (25?) no limit games every month or so. I'm still learning, and am not ready to play in the big tables yet. I'm in Mississauga, so if you have something like this going already please let me know.
