Getting in a real pickle with my M's
with a low'ish M and middle pair, i got into a real mess here. Once I've realised I've messed up, I decided I had to go all-in.

Messed up? How did you mess up here? I would have made it 4xBB pre-flop personally. Push on the flop.
Word of advice, don't post results when you want feedback on your play. You get a more of an honest answer posting it street by street.

I agreed with the messed up statement.
Though I can understand your thought process :
For some reason you are worry about the Q on the flop, so you fire a weak cbet.
Villain either picked on it, or more likely, like to chase his gut+1 over card draw.
So you gave up on the hand on the turn, maybe hoping for a free SD, however villain bet even weaker then your flop bet. That lead you to believe he is trying to buy the pot and you pushed.
This is only messed up due to how drawy this board is. If villain had any brain he would have either checked behind on the turn or put you AI (actually, he would have folded or raised the flop)
I'd pot the flop, and lead AI the turn.
Pf I might raise to 200 , but tat really depend on the table.
