My favourites:

But ultimately pretty poor judgement if you ask me. Especially considering the sensitive nature of the subject.

OH NO THIS ISSUE IS TOO SENSITIVE WE CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT EXCEPT IN THE WAY PERSON XYZ SAYS WE CAN! One person claiming themselves to be the infallible judge of tact and reason and social grace is usually correct, right?

It doesn't matter now and who knows, he may do the right thing the next time he ships something.

This is the "right thing"? Errr.... I guess?

It's not exactly a test of character to not steal when we're rich... Isn't it the lean times that show our true colours?

For the record: I am totally cool with Supa's original post, and I am totally cool with his not-so-subtle descriptions of me as an idiot, mongoloid, whatever. I have that coming. There was very slim chance that any money would be repaid to begin with, and the amount (in my case) is so small that it's immaterial to the larger issue. I am not speaking for MilkyPirate, of course, but he seems cool with the overall thread origin as well.

I think this thread should be locked. It has served its purpose. My op only.

How about stickied AND locked? It can serve its purpose WITHOUT being completely hijacked. :P

I think it's funny that someone would suggest keeping it a secret would be better...

that's kinda like saying people shouldn't have posted/written anything about the AP scam because that way they people with the superuser account might have returned the money, but because the bell was rung on the scam now they won't...

sounds like a Chewbaka defense to me....

just doesn't make sence..

I can only speak for myself, my issue was never it got brought up, but how it was introduced could have been done much much better.

I think a new thread with the people who explained the situation posts first would be better. This thread has degenerated into squabbling.

Allow me to help you good Sir.

http://www.mirc.com/

Go to that website and download the program. Install it. Then follow these directions:

1) Using the application :

u will need mIRC

IRC means Internet Relay Chat, and mIRC is an application to get into rooms and chat live with other persons.

u can download it for free, however it will say that u have only x days left to use it and once the period is over it keeps saying u have to register etc...just keep clicking "Continue", it will still work.

Configuration (to be done only the first time) :

You end up in a configuration window.

U must be on Connect on the left side of the mIRC Options window. (it's selected automatically normally)

Full name, email address : u put whatever u want (email address must be name@host.com or similar)

Nickname, Alternative : It's like the nickname on a forum, u choose whatever u want and Alternative is in case the 1st u gave is already used.

Server : make sure "Quakenet: Random server" is set. If it's not, go on Servers on the left side and select "Quakenet: Random server" in the IRC Server list (you can select your country if it's listed)

When all that is done, click on Connect To Server

You will see text appear in the Status window

You have to wait until a mIRC Favorites window pops up. (it can take up to 1 or 2 minuts depending on your connection and the traffic)

when it's there, type "THP" in the Enter a channel name and click join: box and...click join

THERE YOU ARE !

Everything u will type will be seen by others.

The next times u will start mIRC u will just have to click on Connect To Server, then enter "THP" in the text box and click on Join

That should do it King. I hope to be able to be back on IRC in a few days. I miss chatting with everyone there.

Now back onto the Supa bashing. Supa sure doesn't need anyone to defend him. Supa does have friends on here but I sure as hell wouldn't call them
fanboys riding supa's nuts
. Many could see the importance of outing someone who pulls a stunt like this and they voiced that. I did not read one post that said Supa is god, Supa is the best of Supa is never wrong. What I did read was Zinn0 and a few others stating their opinions, which Sir is what forums are all about.

Now if I get called a "Supa fanboy" then so be it. I may not like everything he says or posts but I do respect him and everyone enough to give them a chance to voice their opinions and without calling them idiots for thinking the way they do.

I didn't actually say it should have been kept quiet. I just think it was pretty bad form putting it in the public domain without discussing it with the innocent parties beforehand, but it doesn't really matter now.

That said, if you lost 2k or a significant amount of your roll and figured the only way you could get it back was to not immediately rat out the thief, can you honestly say you would be prepared to take the hit for the good of everyone else? It's bullshit if you do think that. Next you will be saying you will take it in the ass just so the random on the street doesn't have to. You can put the moral compass away now because this is the world of poker, don't expect anyone else to do favours like that for you.

I cba posting anymore on this thread either, it's ran its course.

May I remind people that before Supa outted Gid to the community, these events happened:

July 7th-12th: I'm too busy with moving to play poker, so I don't play all week. Gid knows this as I tell him that all throughout the week (he messaged me like every day, asking me if I was going to play poker). Then he logs onto my account twice and proceeds to "deliver funds" behind my back, while at the same time he messages me saying, "David, you're the reason why I'm so good at poker, you taught me not to tilt...etc" and we continue to chat like normal.

July 12th: I log into my FTP account in the early evening and notice that I'm missing $. So naturally I message Gid on MSN saying something to the effect of "hey thats weird, I think my FTP account is missing money". Gid immediately logs off MSN, which I thought was a little strange considering the timing, although he always randomly logs on/off MSN. After this I email FTP security and I go to Facebook message Leafsfan. This is when I noticed that Gid removed me from Facebook, so I thought "huh that's odd." A few hours later I get a response from FTP security, I talk to Rick, aelred, Leafs, and we put all of the pieces together of what actually occured.

The next day, Supa makes this post.

Basically these events lead me to believe that Gid's actions would not or will not change regardless of the posts here. FTP security had already shut down his accounts (I assume) and since me, aelred, Rick and Leafs knew what was going on, the word was bound to get out eventually. Plus, he had already removed me from MSN, Facebook, etc and was not talking to me, nor trying to apologize or explain his actions. Maybe he did this because he was confused, ashamed, or too embarassed to talk to me (he did message me a few days later).

Still, I don't see how this thread/being outted to the community would change his demenor towards me. If he was going to keep the money to begin with, it's lost and I should be glad I got 1.2K back. If he was/is planning on paying me back, he'll do so eventually. Clearly his integrity has taken a massive blow by these events and if he has some shred of decency in him, then I believe he will pay me back one day (though I won't hold my breath).

Either way, sinde a) these events being made public was an inevitability b) Gid removed all contact from me c) FTP security had already conducted their investigation...the only step left was making the community aware of what was going on, for their own safety. By the time Supa made the post, all that could possibly have been done within the victimized parties had been done (with the exception of being payed back by Gid...and I still don't know the status of Ricks account) given the events that had occured Saturday night.

Jesus, that's really sickening.

I gotta love lines like "he is such a promising player, why would he do this?" or "$1000 is probably a drop in the bucket to squid."

Methinks not apparently. Perhpas Gid has some rather expensive *habits* ?
