I don't understand what looks like multiple concepts applied strangely. Pot control with A high? You are afraid of being Check raised but are willing to call turn with no hand or draw. You want to keep the pot small so you can keep calling down with A high?

there is only one concept here.. that is "small ball" there is 4 left in mtt thats been going for about 4 /5 hours. the blinds are big.
I'd often c bet the flop because i think its still the best hand and force hands K8 etc out...but against this tricky german i feel he will check raise me alot on this type of flop - he will not be scared that teh Q has hit me. so i go for check denying him the chance to push me off the pot while i have the best hand. on the turn i am going to bet if he checks to me and likely take downt the pot. a delayed cbet if you will... but then he fires into me, I could raise him here.. but then my read could be incorect and i will not get any more value off him on the river if i am indeed correct. so I call him thinking i am ahead and expecting him to shut down or carry on the bluff. 6 is a great card for me, if im ahead on the turn i will still be ahead on the river so i call and im right he has nothing - busted flush draw. If the river had been a J or K or a diamond and he fired big it would have been alot tougher call... but imho i think this hand is played pretty well. if you cannot understand why then u have alot of work to do.

If aelred is calling him down with Ace high, I should imagine he's observed the player, plus he's got alot of chips to call too- him betting again on the river would have me a bit worried as he might shut down when you call the turn alot , and if he was gonna steal, then he might bet right out, as opposed to check raise and put himself in jeopardy. As it turned out I think he was check raising as he had a powerful hand after the flop.
I don't think its a case of pot control , just knowing the player and the cajones to follow through with your conviction. So I think props for the call really, he may turn over QJ or something a fair amount of the time. But not this time, so to that you have to say "wp,good call".

Knowing the player is the important part IMO, trying to make this out as standard which Kompis came across with his post is absurd. I think that is what Ensano and I were trying to say.

Make a read, play it the way that will gain u most chips if you read well.
Proven correct...
its these spots where you are meant to say "wow great call," because the standard play would not have looked like that but the hero knew something extra that helped him make a call where it is normal to fold.
yes i am results oriented... check out my results on officialpokerrankings.com offmymedz
about time i stopped posting on this forum, full of sh1t players

in all fairness. Ensano, it is apparent that you have no clue on tournament strategy and are a primarily cash game player
oh and ~2.5x is standard for tournaments
