Got My New Nevada Jacks CLAYS Today!!

Postby vai777 » Wed Mar 23, 2005 7:31 pm GMT

Thankfully the order was almost defect free. Just 1 warped blue chip, a green with slightly chiped edges and a blck with some inlay issues and some nasty divits taken out of it around the edge. Also 3 of the red chips have what appear to be light slashes equadistant to each other going around the entire chip rim. I am going to send back these defective chips and see what Nevada Jacks can do for me. I mean im sure they wont balk at replacing 6 chips when I purchased 500. and a 1percent defect rate is not to bad.

No broken chips. They are chalky but so are paulsons when they are new.

They stack well and are pretty even to each other in height
The blue, red and purple chips are all exactly the same height when stacked.

The yellow, green and black are all he same heights when stacked.

however when comparing either one stack from the 2 groups mentioned above to each other the ie... Blue stack vs Yellow stack the yellow stack is 1/4 chip shorter. You really cant tell unless the stack tops are eye level, and for me its not a major issue.

so basically the blue, red and purple chips are all slightly thicker than the gree, yellow and black. dont ask me wht I have no idea.

I love the colors of the chips I have to say they are better looking than the new paulsons. The jacks have more of an earthy tone to them as compared to the almost neon like quality of the new paulsons.

Overall I am happy with the purchase and hope to hear from others that may have purchased these chips.

I get mine tomorrow. :D
Definitely agree with you on the colors, though... the NJs use some dayglo too, but the Paulsons make me feel like I need to put sunblock on.

I tried mineral oil on the 50 purple chips that i have and it does make a huge difference in their appearance. I was always jealous of the deep colors of the new paulsons but after treating them with the oil, the colors of the chip stand out much, much better. It really gets rid of that white dust coating the chips as stated in the other thread. But it did take about an hour to do 50, while watching tv. For those who baught the chips i highly reccomend doing this. I've had my set since december and now i like my chips even more. dont know what it will do (pick up more dirt, etc) after playing with them.

Looks like we have a lot in common. I'm a guitar player, I don’t own a digital camera and I don't own a cell phone. I used a camera from work to take all the pictures I’ve posted. In the last 11 months I have spent about $9000 between poker chips, poker table, cards etc, guitars and recording equipment - mostly recording equipment...

At least you prioritize wisely. Kind of like me, I owned a $5,000 watch before I bought my first house. Thats another story though.

Hey circle waht type of guitars you got. I have a bunch of Tom Andersons. you should check them out if you like strat or tele guitars.

Anyway back to the chips, I continued searching the NJ Clays last night for defects and found a total of nine (I guess thats not bad) Im sending them back to nevada jacks with a letter explaining the problem. Hopefully they will be understanding and replace them for me.

Im really impressed with the colors and how well they go with each other. The chips are really complimentary in the fact that each can stand on its own and yet they all blend together very well.

Now im just waiting for my Old style JB Paulsons to arrive on monday.
That should end my chip hunting for a little while (at least large sets).

Unless the new paulson mold is something that I cant resist because I really love the way those chips feel.

We should probably take this to PM's but I'll just say real quick, I have a G&L Legacy, a Taylor acoustic and a cheap Fender 4 string bass that I just use for recording and a vintage Fender Delux Reverb. Recording wise I run Protools LE.

Since this thread has been completely hijacked now, I will just mention that I also play guitar. I do not go nuts on gear though, all I have is my Ovation Celebrity Deluxe. Thinking about trading it in for a full-body though.
