Great Part Time Jobs that can fund poker

Postby General Sal » Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:21 pm GMT

So, I'm looking for ideas on this one. What are some really good jobs out there that one can get on a part-time basis that will help fund poker? Obviously, we are looking for jobs that allow us to play poker during the nighttime, so the job is a daytime job. And it would probably be one that would pay $30/hour. I have a buddy who is a part-time mri technologist, so that works out great for him. I think those jobs that require some kind of certification/training would be the way to go here.

You know $30 a hour is a pretty darn good wage. If you find something let me know what it is :)

It’s funny all of the jobs suggested could easily be serious or jokes. I’m guess most are actually serious.

Friends of mine started up a internet cafe business and worked out after 18 months and a lot of high blood pressure they'd have been just as well off delivering pizzas.

Def. NOT teaching middle school. Although, having the benefit of winter, spring, and summer breaks means you can put a lot of energy into Poker for spurts here and there.

I'd have to disagree with the Poker dealer suggestion. By the time you're done with your shift, you frequently don't like sitting down and staring at cards for extended periods. It's nice that you stay in the environment, but it can produce burnout easily.

Most clerical jobs lend themselves to being good combinations with Poker.

Just find a job that requires using a computer, but at a company that doesn't monitor internet use.

Replies:

Poker Dealer: I did study for that. This is a possibility... I might have to do this while working at my current dealing job though if I want to transition easily. I'm not sure what the landscape is for dealing in the pokerroom. There was such a poker dealer explosion last year... many were trained, then dealt at the WSOP... then afterwards, nothing. Some still struggle to find jobs.

Teacher: I looked at this briefly, as I do have a college degree. Another possibility.

Has anyone worked in the medical field? Is there something that I can get specialized training for? I'll pay. Like I said, the requirements are: very flexible hours. part time hours. $30/hour.

Anything in the governement sector? Anyone work at UPS or FedX?

My uncle did some community college and eventually worked his way at a hospital to an x-ray technician and then further in management and is quite loaded. Perhaps x-ray technician, but thats the extent of my knowledge.
