Grr....

Postby TheDudeChad » Mon May 17, 2004 9:51 pm GMT

I have J8 on the BB and I have three callers. Blinds are 15/30 and average stack is about 1700. I have about 2200. Flop comes J 9 8. I bet 300 and get one caller. I figure he's a newb and has a 10 and will stay in with terrible pot odds. Next card is a 5. No help for that straight. I bet 900. He calls (?). His stack is a bit bigger than mine. Next card is another 5. No way he made his straight. I bet about 500 (maybe he'll call?). He raises me all in. Of course I call. Here's the kicker.....

He flips over A 5 for three fives and the win. Now please tell, wtf was this person doing. The pot is about 150 before the flop. I bet 300 into this after the flop and he calls with just ace high? (A low kicker at that). He makes a pair of fives on the turn, and still calls a bigger than pot sized bet? I'm still fuming over this idiotic play.

A few days ago, I held QJ and limped in. BB checks. Flop comes Q, J, 8. BB bets small, I go all in. Keep in mind I have a huge stack to his decent sized one. He calls.

Flips over... K 8????? Well, that was a stupid call by him. But you all know how the story goes... turn is a rag and a king on the river makes his two pair better.

????????????????????????????????
Well, that's my rant for the day.

Lately I have really keeping track of how much of my losses have come from limping in at SB and BB, it's huge. I'll get in with something crappy I would have farted at ussually, then I make some top pair and proceed to get my ass handed to me.

I know this sounds silly, but I am seriously considering folding my BB bet even if i could see a flop for free if I wouldn't play the hand normally. More realistically... I should just pay extra attention and be very, very careful when I limp in from SB or BB.
