Happy 4th July

Postby jimmer » Sat Jul 04, 2009 3:13 am GMT

I was gonna say; to all the people in my second favourite country in the world, Happy 4th July.

However England’s pretty crap at the mo (and getting worse) so f*ck it;

To all the people in the best Country in the world Happy 4th July.

Best is a subjective term but I do think the USA was founded on the best ideals.

I probably am mate.

I've spent a lot of time living or working in other countries (Hong Kong, Middle East, Tanzania etc) and it really brings home the good and bad bits of the UK.

I'm very passionate about my sport (well played the Lions btw), but I can still watch and support my teams from other countries.

The only thing that is really keeping me in the UK is my family.

I don't think I'm alone here. In the papers this week was this;
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-storie ... -21490827/

When the top five things on the list are William Shakespeare, Buckingham Palace, Fish and chips, Big Ben and Red telephone boxes, it's hardly something to get excited about is it?

england doesn't have much culture I agree, if thats what you are getting to jimmer.

I personally dont support england in any thing in particular since my family is italian and I support them in sports etc since I was young.

But I defo wouldn't say any country ,especially usa is the best nor would I say any other is..thats just gay.

America is a bs country that just spout phrases like "most free country in the world", to get people to be ignorant to whats really going on.

All that aside, happy 4th of july yankees!

I don’t see any problem with that list, what would other countries have on theirs that would attract you? It’s always going to be a couple of famous people, some national grub and a handful of landmarks. For all our differences we’re very much the same.

You sound like an immigrant-terrorist-paedophile!

I don’t think that’s very fair. Granted we don’t have a national dances or hat but there are some very British things; queing, page 3, weather complaints, it’s just that they’re more subtle I think.

I agree with this, but it was founded on the idea that everyone should be free, the specification is good they just fell down on the implementation. But so would every nation, the problem is human nature.

As an American, I'd have to agree.

Nah , I honestly believe it. Few people are really patriotic to be english , and culture might be the reason behind that imo.
What has england got ? Queen ? pfft, shit.
Fish and chips ?
A big clock ?
David beckham?
ummm help me out here.
Tea is pretty nice, but I thought that was an indian thing originally.

I don't hate england or nething, but ya know, we let in all these different ethnics and immigrants and that's great cos it's diversity. But It probably causes a problem when you try to identify something with england.
At least, I find this with my home city , and suspect it's nationwide.

P.S poorly worded cos I just woke up and its 5.35am.
