I just start reading his Tourney Vol 3 one. I got so many books for Christmas I haven’t had a chance to start it until now.
I’ve always liked his stuff so would defiantly be interested to see what he has to say about ring games.

its pretty decent so far, albeit very basic. im halfway through vol.1
i am a little shocked at some of the examples though.... there is one hand which i cannot describe otherwise as being totally botched and played as badly as possible
here is the hand
online 3-6NL game
youre in the cutoff with $400 w AKo.. the game has been VERY aggressive, ESPECIALLY the player utg+1
heres what happens... UTG limps, UTG+1 raises to $24. it folds to you
here it is advised to CALL, as you have position. this is pretty damn bad i think... clear cut case of 3betting and trying to get it in with this stacksize if you ask me, remember, were sitting on 60 big blinds and the raiser has been especially agressive.
so we call and it folds around to UTG, who now reraises to $100. UTG+1 now folds.... EASY SHOVE right???? no, it advises to just call. so we call, flop comes QJ7, guy bets out and we fold after putting in a quarter of our stack (which was small to begin with) preflop...... terrible IMO...

I agree that hand is not played especially well, particularly given the stack size we have. It is OK to just call with AK from time to time, but I don't think this is the time for it. Honestly, if you're going to just call here, I fold to the limp/reraise from UTG.
Overall I have not been impressed at all with the books. They are not bad, but they are hardly groundbreaking like the Tournament books were. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like Professional No-Limit Hold'em.

I've read harrington and slanksy but i play mostly cash games so want to read some more. If i avoid harrington on cashgames, what should i get instead. I hear Negreanu has a book out? i like him as a player but have no idea about him as an author.
