Help me! I need some help playing with crappy poker players

Postby ksuno1stunner » Mon Nov 24, 2003 11:26 pm GMT

I play holdem poker w/ some friends pretty frequently, and most of them aren't very good, though I'm not very good either, I have a better idea of poker than they do. It sounds like it should be easy to win, but it's not, because they never bluff, and they never fold, unless you go all in. They play like pansies. Any hints on what I should do, because most of the games go down to luck. Thanks in advance

well, since they don't ever fold, just wait for a nice hand to come along and raise their asses off. and since the only thing they fold on is all-ins, then bluff them with all-ins from time to time.

If this is the case, I gotta agree with Leo on this one. Most likely, this people are stupid idiots too, so they will not notice you are playing at tight at hell but...that is what you should do. And once you pick up the goods, the best idea would be to bet for value. Do not check-raise, check and call, limp-raise, whatever you can do in this damn game. Just bet for value, you flop the nuts bet bet bet bet bet all the way down to the river. And if you think they are chasing a gutshot straight draw, go all in. Pending that you have a hand that--at that point is superior, (IE two pair). When you have two-pair value bet, and when you have top pair, considering these guys do not slowplay, go all-in so anyone calling you and outdrawing you will decrease dramatically. That's basically all I know or can say to you. Another strategy is to play loose like everyone else, and try to outplay them after the flop. I certainly prefer the first choice however.

buy a book on the game, and basically rape them the next time you play, go to different sites and learn stuff about strategies...

this site has a great article on short handed play (5 or less at a table...)

read it... then read it again... then go to pokah.com they have a shitload of poker links...
