hero call for 250BB?

Postby MrDarling » Sun Nov 23, 2008 7:29 pm GMT

I actually already finished my session but needed few more FTP points to get a better daily bonus so decided to play a little longer. Decided to play real tight passive as I already had a decent profit for the day (2BI) and really hate finishing the day at a lose. (I know, not the best state of mind to play, but what ever)

Villain is pretty aggressive fish. He dbl'd up early on when he squeezed from the BTN with K7s and raised AI vs CO cold caller on AK9r (they were 130BB deep) he backed into a flush vs CO's AQ

So I think defending here IP vs him when we are so deep is standard.
He pots the flop into 2, and I really find it hard to believe him. Now he pot again the turn.

Thought...

ouch... it's probably a fold given his bet sizing, unless you saw him size this way with that K7 hand or something. I'd expect to see AA,KK and 88 a lot here- I don't think it's a terrible call either though.

although i didnt count the fact that FTP has a pot button... im not used to playing there so i dunno how the fish play with it

I flip a coin, heads I call and tails I fold. Think I weight the coin for a heads drop

The point of talking about my plan to play tight to avoid losing a big pot is just to see how you can't plan how your session swings will be.

Anyway, I decided to call for few reasons.
First, it seems like villain wants me to fold. This is as dry flop as it can be and the turn is as blank as can be. If villain have a set, he will think a little before betting and try to milk some value out of me.

If villain had an over pair, he should suspect my flop call and at least think before potting the turn again with hands like AQ or KK+

Also, villain as been winning. When people are losing and their big pairs get cracked, I can see someone just saying "F* it" if they have me beat they have me beat. I don't want a tough decision with my over pair so I just pot/shove it.

And last, the hand that he played before did influence my decision. In that hand he insta re-pot the flop with 2nd pair no kicker against a big donk when it was obvious he have no FE.

Villain did wake up with...
..

..

K3s drawing dead on the turn.
