HH - an explanation!!!
With the amount of HH I'm posting I guess I owe you guys an explantion of why I'm posting them.
It's very simple. I'm just not confident in my ability at the mo.
Most of these hands I could of dealt with myself around a year ago. However since then I've read Doyle's SS and Gus Hansen's every hand revealed.
It made interesting reading and I could see the value in a lot of the things they were saying. However, it now seems to be back firing. I get my pocket cards and think "doyle say....", so I make this move, dig myself a hole and then freeze.
I'm less confident about my poker than I was 6 months ago.
So, I've posted loads of hands. Some may simple, but they still f**ked my head up.
Please don't think I'm lazy, I'm either looking for re-assurance or confirmation of where I went wrong.
P.s On most of these hands, i have player notes. However, as I'm looking at this through my HH, I obviously don't know what these notes are.
I'm so annouyed with myself. My game has just seem to fall apart. I'm so pi**ed off.
Many thanks

How about you use the relevant forums for hand analysis?
Basic Theory Discussion
Advanced Theory & Hand Analysis
No Limit & Pot Limit Holdem
It's probably just me, but it really gripes me when this sub forum is used for hand analysis or for people posting bad beats etc when there are forums dedicated to these kind of posts.

The problem I have is; I know what a Bad Beat is, however I haven't posted any. The issue i have is; I am unsure where the divide is between basic theory discusion and advanced theory?
I do know they were all played onlne, so I've put them there.
I'll quite happily move these if someone is willing to suggest the best place for them.

I remember it took me a long time until I dared posted any hand in the Advance section, simply since most of my questions seems very basic to me.
In this instance all your HH are very basic problems. To make a HH question advance (IMO) it should have at least some talk about images (ours and villain), history, notes, table dynamic etc...
Though if people get tilt issue from wrong forum posts I hate to think what happen when someone call their raise with 74o and crack their AA.

However, why therefore, are they best placed in the basic theory discussion section and not in the online section? All were played online?
I think it's generally understood the Basic and Advanced sections are for hand analysis. I don't know what the hell online forums are for, they are either redundant or for online issues?
I don't really care where you post, I just think a few of these could have been condensed into fewer posts... but it really doesn't matter to me. Better than the bad beat posts that dominate the forum.

The way I understand it, online forum is to discuss online matters, ie : poker rooms, bonuses, scandals and the like.
When digesting a hand its not that important if you played it online or live, is it?
Few general points :
1. Gus's book, though entertaining gives very little value to cash games if at all. ignore everything you read there while playing cash. Also, don't forget you are not Gus. You probably don't have his image which means people will be less afraid to "steal" your blinds and will be less likely to give you action if you do hit as your image is not as reckless.
2. if you really observe a table before you play and then play "only" one table, there is no excuse for not having info on other players. Try to post hands closer to the end of the session (or even during a session if you only play one table) playing hands in a vacuum is really for pure beginners in the very low levels. Once you climb through the levels, a lot of your decisions should be player and position depended.
ie, I'll call much more IP with speculative (AJ/KQ/QJ etc..) hands against a loose/weak opponent, I'll fold those against a tight opener, but will call with SC and small pairs. If you see why, you are in the right direction.
Good luck.
Danny

Actually, I thought it was the opposite. I think he killed the cash games and sucked at the tournaments... but I might be wrong.
Sucked at the tournaments? Are you kidding? Gus has had one of the most remarkable tourney careers of any player in $10K events the last 5-6 years.
He has not had a corresponding amount of success in the highly visible cash games, but remember, we don't see a lot of them, and in the really big games, he is competing against literally the best players in the world, so even if he is one of the best, he might still be outmatched.

In this case, I read Gus's book 'Every hand revealed'. It was about his $1m win at last years Australian poker tourney.
The book is ok. I enjoyed reading it and I have learnt quite a lot about tourney's.
I know tourneys are completely different to cash games and therefore I shouldn't read too much into this, however I learnt a lot reading Harrington on Holdem volumes I,II and III, so was kinda expecting the to learn a bit more this time. It had an adverse effect.
Gus is a very accomplished cash and tourney player. He's not massively known on the horse events but his poker knowledge and ability is far from limited to NL.
