Hold'Em In The City (Toronto)
I'm looking for a Hold'Em player that digs the idea of hosting a non-buy-in, regular game (bi-weekly or monthly, say) at a Toronto bar that was advertised and open to the general public. Here's the deal...
I run a website called I Leaf Toronto (http://www.ileaftoronto.com) which serves as an umbrella site for different events/activities in Toronto. Currently there are three -- Scrabble In The City (social Scrabble club), Race In The City ("Amazing Race"-style race), and Walk In The City (tourist walking tour). I think Hold'Em In The City would be a natural fit. Unfortunately, I know virtually nothing about the game. I'm looking for a volunteer (and by volunteer, I mean volunteer) who'd be willing to host a regular event at a bar (which I would arrange with your input re: location) that I could advertise on the site and to the members of the mail group. As the host, you would bring chips and cards to the bar and welcome whoever showed up into the game. No buy in... they just have to order drinks or food from the bar. The winner of the evening's event would win a small prize supplied by a sponsor (which I would set up). The idea is to offer newbies or people who are just learning a non-threatening environment to play, learn and meet other people like themselves. You would therefore be responsible for dealing the cards, keeping the game going, sharing your wisdom, accommodating everyone and generally acting as host for the evening.
Please check out my website to learn more about I Leaf Toronto and if you dig the idea, please e-mail me as I obviously won't be visiting this forum often.
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions you might have.
