Home Cash Game- getting in/out
I'm going to host a home cash game with some friends (probably will have 5-9 players) and I like everyone being able to come and go as they please. A football game might be on and someone wants to watch the 4th qtr. or take a call from their girlfriend, or smoke a cigarette, etc. Whats the procedure on getting up for say 20 mins. and then coming back in and sitting down? Or we get someone joining an hour late. what's their obligation when they sit? I've never had it explained to me thoroughly. Thanks in advance

Primarily, remember everyone has to pay blinds to get cards.
So, somebody takes a break for a while, or comes late, they can either wait until they'd be in the big blind and post, or post a BB and get cards now.

You should probably implement a rule about how long someone can leave the table for if you don't have enough seats for the number of players wanting to play but if you are not over-subscribed, people can just leave for as long as they want. While they are absent, don't take any blinds from them and don't deal them any cards.

Players should only receive cards when they are seated at the table.
If they join a game after the first round they should post a big blind or wait for the big blind.
If they leave the table during the game and intend to return they are not dealt cards, If they miss the blinds because they were not seated, they must post those missed blinds when resuming play, the big blind is posted as a forced bet and the small blind goes into the pot, generally only one amount of blinds is posted even though they may have missed several rounds. If they have not missed the blinds then they just resume their seat and receive a card as normal.
