Home game ,Rule issues
Hi guys i'm new to the forum and i have a question i really need answered ,A bunch of friends and myself have started a points league which will end in a final table championship ,with a nice pot,Points are awarded for participation and 1st (10) 2nd(5) 3rd(3) points ,Anyway we are trying to iron out all poker rules and issues ,We have all other rules sorted but we had a bit of a blowout between 2 players the other night ,Here's what happened , There were 2 players in the hand ,The flop came and player 1 said raise, and before he could state the amount he was raising player 2 said ALL-IN ,So was player 2 supposed to wait till the raise amount was stated before he called ALL-IN ,Or could he just go right ahead and re-raise ALL-IN,It was obvious player 2 had the killer hand.
I kinda thought it would have been a bit more respectful to wait for player 1 to finish his turn before player 2 pushed ,Are there rules on this or is it just Poker Etiquette ,Please help

In terms of the official rule, you do have to wait your turn before announcing your intentions. In this scenario, the player declaring all-in did the stupidest thing possible because by not waiting, he likely cost himself chips.
If the minimum bet was, say 100 chips, if Player 1 was going to bet 500 chips, by waiting for his turn, Player 2 could announce all-in and then if Player 1 folded, he'd scoop the pot which would include those 500 chips. By announcing all-in before Player 1 put any chips in, the action goes back to Player 1 who can now bet the minimum and fold if he does not want to call the all-in. Player 2 has therefore cost himself chips by acting out of turn.
Of course, if Player 1 had a good enough hand to call the all-in it would not matter but I have seen this situation before and it has always cost the all-in player chips because the other player has simply min-bet and then folded.
On a side note, if Player 1 had not said anything at all and Player 2 had announced all-in, Player 1 could just fold for free. The only reason I say he has to min-bet above is because he announced his intentions before Player 2 acted out of turn.
