We like to play multiple tourney games on poker night so no rebuys or add-ons and a semi-aggressive blind schedule...
1500 in chips per player
20 5s
10 10s
10 25s
7 50s
3 100s
1 500
Blinds go up every 20 minutes and are:
25/50
50/100
100/200
race off 5s, 10s, 25s
200/400
400/800
500/1000 for remainder of tourney

No offense, but what is the point of having 5s and 10s if the blinds start at 25/50?

We start w/ 1k: 20 5s, 20 25s, 4 100s. Blinds go 5/10, 10/20, 15/30, 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400... every 15 minutes.

75-150
100-200 (25 ante)
150-300 (50)
200-400 (50)
300-600 (75)
400-800 (100)

500-1000 (100)
600-1200 (200)
800-1600 (200)
1000-2000 (300)

10 people or less tourneys usually end in the bold levels.

I'm going to open myself up to my own idocy here, but I've been playing TX HoldEm for 2 years now, and I have always played tourney games. We've never played with antes b/c frankly none of us know how they work or have bothered to find out. How do antes in HE work?

Everyone must put in the required ante before the hand. In addition, the SB and BB still must post. Usually in the tourny's iv'e played in, the ante doesn't kick in until the later rounds. Also, the ante increases along with the blinds. With antes, you don't need to raise the blinds as fast since there is going to be more action with a larger pot to start.

None taken...I get that question a lot. The reason is because I like to use all of my denoms (I can't accept never using certain denoms and adjusting our blinds downward would make our games go longer than we like) and I like to have a good number of chips on the table. One time I removed the lower denoms and we started with 33 chips and I didn't like starting with the smaller stacks.

Start at 8pm and have unlimited rebuys until 10pm if you have less than $300.

$1,000 (TP) in chips:

10 x $5
10 x $25
6 x $100

Rebuys get issued with 2 $500 chips.

Blinds go up every 20 mins:

10 - 20
15 - 30
20 - 40
25 - 50 (colour up and race off)
50 - 100
75 - 150
100 - 200
150 - 300
300 - 500 (colour up)
500 - 1000
1000 - 2000 until finish

If I were you, I'd start the blinds lower and have them increase every 15 minutes. Like, have them go 5/10, 10/20, 25/50 or something like that. That way everyone still starts with lots of chips but they're necessary.

Since I'm picking up new chips (NJ skulls), I decided to only buy 25s, 100s and 500s, so that will take care of the 5s problem.

For our tourney to end when it does, I have to start the big blind between 1/70th and 1/50th of starting chips...with that in mind, 5/10 would give me maximum starting chip value of 700 and I personally don't wan't that low. I guess I've decided it's better to not use the 5s than to not use the 500s. But I do see the error of my original set-up

Yeah, unfortunately the NJ Skulls don't have a $1000 chip.
I also wish they would have made the $0.25 chip grey... ah well!
