How long is too long?
I have so many poker things running through my head right now, 8 days in vegas will do that to you!!!
How long do you wait in a seat, at a table without getting cards before you call it a night or move to another table? I had two sessions, once for 5 hours and once for 8 that I just wasn't getting anything worth playing, and if I had anything interesting it was a lot to see the flop. In the 8 hour session this maniac was at the table and I tried waiting it out (it had been about 4 hours when she started rolling and became a huge stack) I then tried it for 4 more hours because I knew I could crack her if I got a hand, it just never came.
I lost $100 and $200 for each of those sessions, mostly blinded it off. I don't know if there is a general rule for how long you should wait before moving or if this was just way out of the ordinary. I've waited out cards before, 3 hours is usually all it took to start seeing the other end of it, but in both cases here I could never crack the deck.
It might have been worth the $200 in the 8 hour bad run just to watch this girl build her stack to nearly $1k (started at $100) just to give it all back, plus the other $300-$400 in her pocket when she wouldn't slow down. She was one of those players who could't let a draw go, and for a while she kept hitting on the river, and was so rude when she won or lost. She didn't take hardly anything from me, but she did take out about 4 players at the table. Even if she lost a big pot she'd win another one to put her ahead or even for about 2 hours. Then she had a bad run of cards and just steamed off her stack and bankroll.

One or two hundred?
Try 5 hours of that at a 10/20 table and being down over a grand. The answer to your question?
How on earth can we ever know? If you know you can beat the game you stay. If your mental/emotional condition is deteriorating because of the ongoing discouragement, you have to face that down and leave.
Very tough call. Got up a couple weeks ago disgusted after not winning a hand in 4 hours. 4 hours!!!!
I was saying goodnight to a friend and watched the ensuing hand. The seat had filled instantly. The guy in my seat caps preflop. Make a long story short. His pocket aces held up and he took down almost 600 bucks. I wanted to puke.
