I think it is sad that the news media has to bring to light the fact that her daughter is pregnant. Is this really something we need to know to know if she would make a good VP or not?
It is a big shame that our news media in the US has to bring the bad stuff out from the shadows when it really doesn't make a hill of beans as to this persons abilities. Doesn't matter if the daughter is lesbian, mixed race, pregnant or anything. The daughter isn't running for VP.

i think bringing things like this to light goes more for exposing hypocracy and fakeness...
her having a preggy 17 year old daughter (i had nothing to do wtih that by the way) shows that abstinence doesn't work....
having a bowl of candy on the table and telling kids... just don't eat the candy.. won't solve the problems that arise from kids eating candy...
educating the kids about the candy is what will help...

I think it's proof that her flawed belief system doesn't work. So yeah it's relative.

Point taken. I was just reading the news where she launched an investigation of ethics against a guy who divorced her sister...and did it at tax payers expense...WTF is up with that?
What gets me most is they are already projecting states as red and blue. Can't we just unite as a country and have the good ole Red, White and Blue? A government by the people, for the people and of the people?
To quote some of Martin Luther King Jr...I had a dream...but in my dream we had a unified country where real people ran it...looking out for the real best interest of our country. Where lobbyists where a thing talked about but never seen. Where your tax dollars were spent best by helping to build our nation to the strength it once was. Not as a war machine...but as an economic and financial force. In my dream the days of democrats and republicans are gone...it is only people serving people...not rich or poor...not white, black, red or yellow...but people.
Can we not see this dream into a reality and change our country back into the great nation our fore-fathers saw it as?

Without knowing all the facts, can we really say this is hypocracy? I would prefer to teach my own children about these matters, and not have schools do it. We cant have religion in schools (which I dont care about one way or the other) but we can teach 10 year olds how to have sex? Which will mess up their minds more, hearing the pledge of alligence or finding out exactly what dad does to mom at that age.
She MAY (I doubt it) but may have known what was going on and been OK with it. There isnt a lot to do in rural areas but drink and have sex. Parents arent stupid. Condoning one policy publically while having another within your house based on knowing your children and what they can handle isnt hypocracy IMO.
As far as the general election, it was tied before the Dem convention, they got the typical 5 pt bump and are ahead based on recent poles.
My take, Obama might win, but he should be up by much more if you listen to the press and what they say about both campaigns. IMO, people dont like arrogance. That is why algore and Kerry both lost. Obama is a great speaker, but his proposals are nearly identical to what Kerry ran on 4 years ago and acting like president, touring Europe and coming off like a king pisses a lot of "regular" people off. McCain (who I dont really like either) will run better than Bush, so Obama really needs to exploit his charisma to offset the fact that his policies are out of line with most of America.
Obama (and McCain) both have shown a bit of a mean streak. If either goes strongly negative or shows a temper in the debates, that could be the end.
People can rip on Palin all the want, she isnt running for president. Nobody cares who the vice is (see Agnew, Ford, Mondale, Quail, algore, Chaney).

Wait - isn't having the intelligence to realize that contextual nuance is important in real-life situations for your OWN family, but still encouraging blunt, over-arching, pervasive and detrimental regulation of the nation's youth the very definition of hypocrisy?

This would explain why Bush's numbers are so low I guess.

Why can't there be some things just for me? Is that so selfish?
Honestly, I can't understand a thing you say, Dave.

I don't think sex education means what you think it means.
edit to add: That is the best looking female politician I've ever seen. I can see why the boys are all over her daughter.

Without a doubt the answer is
The pledge of alligence. Teach kids to think, not to follow.
Here's a fun fact from http://www.drdrew.com, kids that participate in abstinence only programs are
MORE LIKELY to engage in anal sex before the age of 18.
BTW, the problem with teaching kids about sex at home is that most parents do a rather poor job of it or are to uptight to do it at all.
Kids educated about the responsibilities, consequences, joy, and safety of sex grow up to get less STD's, have less unwanted pregnancies, and, invisible man(god) forbid, less guilt/more enjoyment in their sexual relationships.
