How to beat a really conservative player when blind is small

Postby openMinded » Mon Aug 30, 2010 3:14 pm GMT

Blinds 50/100 .

You have 3.5 k chip stack.

Your opponent has 5 k chip stack.

Your opponent plays really conservatively. Will fold on all raises unless they know they will win.

It is 1 on 1.

How should you play to finish off your opponent quicker ?

Raise every hand. If he's as tight and stupid as you say, he'll fold when he has poor holdings and call/raise when he has a good hand. The amount you lose on the times you fold to his strong hands will be vastly outweighed by the amount you win by raising every other pot.

I don't think he's stupid cause he pretty much calls me when he knows I have nothing. this means he calls me even when he has nothing as well but knows he has me.

so for instance, i have 7 8. He has j 2. Flop comes 10 5 A. I raise 3 times the big blind. he calls.

should i raise even bigger on the draw to scare him out? given that i have no idea what hand he is holding, but he has me read.

also a nother question,

what if i have 1k while my opponent has 7 k. should i still play aggressively in heads up? when blinds are like 20/40 ?

Villain appears to have your measure.
No matter the advise you appear to have the answer why that won’t work, if your playing reflects this post, good players will pick up on a negative attitude and punish you. Start pushing back, work on adjusting your persona.

I don’t mean to offend but just hope it helps.
