I actually did lol at this hand

Postby Gogie » Sat Sep 13, 2008 9:15 pm GMT

After the flop I obviously checked and was wondering how I was ever going to get any action. I didn't have to wait long!! And by the way, before anyone jumps on me for the Mickey Mouse raise preflop, I did it because of the way the table had been playing. The outcome is the kind of play I was expecting, although a bit surprising given the flop.

I don't mind the raise size at all, actually. I've tried to get into the habit of only raising 2-2.5x the BB in tournaments. Sometimes with deeper stacks I would raise more for very specific reasons, but I think smaller is almost always better, particularly if you plan on doing ANY blind stealing as the tournament progresses.

I play sngs and mtts alooot lately at the small-med stakes and raising small seems to be the best strat. This is especially true early on, obv. And when the stacks get to 20x.

The small raise has it's place I agree. If your playing aggro players a small raise usually indicates a sign of weakness to many of them. Therefore they will often play back at you.
