I need help with a chipset...

Postby Ensano » Mon Feb 05, 2007 2:11 am GMT

I'm putting together a 1500 piece chipset for a homegame... I've been looking online for something different than the common chips everyone seems to have...

I really like the Nevada Jacks Desert Sands chips but want to get the opinion of some experts....

Personalize Them

Postby lwestatbus » Wed Feb 07, 2007 1:53 pm GMT

If you really want something special there is nothing better than personalized chips. Your choices here are either personalized chips from one of the manufacturers that will run you in the neighborhood of $1 each or to personalize your own labels and apply them to one of the mass produced chips that will accept 1" labels in the center. A good label can make these ordinary chips downright spectacular and they are YOURS.

Check Out Ken's Poker Club
and my own modest efforts
Larry's Banana River Card Room.
Both used two different styles of NexGen chips. I also like the 11.5g Big Slick chip though these look better (IMHO) with more cartoonish label designs than photorealistic designs.

Not Too Expensive

Do you mean the $1/chip? Probably if you want 1,500 chips. The personalized chips were much less expensive. It is basically chip cost plus $70 or so for the labels and design work. There are services that will do the labels for you.

Ensano,

Is this going to be a tourney set or a cash game set?

Tourney set--cant beat for the price a 1500 Faux Clay set with labels from hogwild. Depending on the vendor, should be less than 200 for the whole thing, labels and all. There are 5 colors still left, but the Blue is gonna be the next extinct. 1500 is $67.50 not counting shipping. They really are a great chip, I have 2500 in my tourney set (not that I need that many, they are just addicting).

or maybe NexGens with labels.

Here is by far the best place to get custom labels.

As for a cash set you really wont need 1500 chips, but 1000 chips for your tourney set and 500 for a cash set is right on the money. I have a NJ Skull 400 set for cash games. I really like them.

Hope this helps. And welcome to the madness.
