if you built your own table...
where did you get the foam for the table top and for the rail? I've heard you can get it at upholstery shops, but all the shops in my town seem shady (they are all run out of a house). They don't seem to know what I'm talking about when I ask them.
So what other places would have the high density foam or closed cell foam?

Here's a guide on how to build the whole thing from scratch.

I got headliner cell padding from JoAnne Fabrics. It was actually located right next to the rolls of vinyl that I used to pad the rail. For the rail padding, I used carpet padding that I bought at Home Depot.

Both of them worked great. I especially like the feal of the headliner foam for the playing surface. It is just the right consistency and provides a smooth surface for the felt to lie on top of. I was contemplating using the carpat padding for both since it is cheaper, but I didn't like the fact that you could feel the bumps of the carpet padding through the felt playing surface. The carpet padding works great for the rail, however. IT has more padding than the headliner foam and since the rail as a vinyl cover, you cannot feel it through the rail material.
