Introduction/Advice
Hi to everybody on the boards. I'm new; got into playing poker online pretty recently. I've played a little at home for very small stakes a while ago (my mom was really good at certain games, and she introduced me to poker), but nothing major.. and then recently I got bored while I was surfing around and started playing at UB to pass the time. I got into it and started getting hooked, and I really enjoyed playing for fun (and I only had fun when I won
, so I started to read up a bit, and I think everything is starting to slowly sink in.)
</intro>
I've been playing 10-20, play money @UB, but I was getting so damn sick of it, because I didn't think they were playing right (I was getting pissed that they were outdrawing me, heh
).. I would win a couple 100, then it would get drug out of me eventually.. I ended up doing ok, capping at around 5.6k, but then I started getting drawn out on, and it sunk down to ~3.5k.. so, I huffed a bit, pulled my pants up and headed over to the NL 10-20 tables..
I bought in with 2k (the max), then I chose to wait for the BB, and then.. bam. Right out of the gate: AA. I was giddy. I just called just to wait for the flop. Then I flopped a set, no flush or straight draw in sight. The action started, and I bet the pot. I ended up doubling up. By the time I got done, I had a little over 28k in my corner. I think all the stuff I've been reading started to finally register more and more, and I think this could be a sign from the poker gods (the AA set and the results).
Ok, here're the questions:
Do you think I should stick with NL, or just go with higher/pot-limit? Or wait and sharpen up a bit more?
Also, I won $2.50 in real money (thru the jackpot). You think I should hit the micro-limits, or wait and sharpen up some more (again)? I'd really like to build up that jackpot money to buy poker stuff later..

I just made a deposit of real $ via bank check at UB, but waiting for it to register, so can't comment on that till I play a bit. I put in $100.00 to play around w/and get a feel of the real $ games.
I know what you mean about the 10-20 play $ stuff...lots of reckless all-ins w/crap hole cards. I started online about a month ago and built up to 75K play money in the 10-20 tables and now only play in 100-200 to 1000-2000 table for play $ w/maybe a 2nd or 3rd game simultaneously of low stakes to build up Ulitimate Pts. I have found those higher blind game players tend to play a more sane "real" type of game for the most part. I get the sense they play more for pride/brag rights than for quick fun lotto type thrills of the every hand all-iners. I turned the orig. 75K into 500K in around a week of nightly playing by playing fairly tight.
Can't wait till the real $ registers. Hope I don't get spanked.

Have a go at the micro limits - they don't play much different to play money games, but you probably will when you are risking even a small amount.
You may well lose it, but remember how you felt, and how it affected your game, and how you adapted, and recall this each time you step up a limit when you eventually play for bigger stakes.
