Introduction
Hello,
I've been "playing..." poker on line for about a year, mostly sticking to pay monthly sites where I don't lose my shirt. Good start I think...
(bye the way, I believe I may have run into a few ppl who belong to this site..).
Anyway, I have a lot to learn and from reading some posts on this site, WOW!, I have a lot to learn!!!!!
Kudos to this site for very knowledgable insight!
Now I'm scared!
On line I am pretty much a tight player and probably fold too much, mostly because I try to play straight and "honest hands." I am used to players donking and play accordingly.
I went to two casinos for the first time a few weeks ago. I wasn't nervous about my playing as much as nervous about playing live. Soooo...
Played $1 $3 limit holdem. Bought in with $40.00
I had the attitude that I would probably be donked to death, so I stuck to straight poker, no bluffing, no donking, just played my good hands.
I walked away with $600 plus! I couldn't the hands ppl played!!! What were they thinking????
I think it helped me a lot that I looked like Forrest Gump trying to handle all my chips, keeping them in stacks. (didn't know the words change color)
I became less concerned about loosing and more concerned about keeping the chips in order, so my game flowed. I was getting really good cards. I looked like an idiot so I geuss they thought I was playing like one, I don't know. I didn't have time to show expression, look up, ask to pee....
I just kept trying to stack the chips.
Nowwwww, I'm going to a club tonight for a no limit game and after reading this site.... I'm scared!
I mostly play by intuition and common sense. (That doesn't work real well online) The poker Gods must have been smiling on me that day, because I don't "know" odds or ways to bluff etc.
Maybe too much knowledge is a bad thing for me! Live that is.
We'll see.
Nice to meet you and I love your posts!

Welcome to the forum. If you post a lot of hands and participate in the discussions, you can learn a lot. And we're not total jerks (well, most of us).

I bought in with the minimum, because I didn't want to lose my shirt, other poeple bought in with bigger stacks because, their egos told them they needed the leverage!.
Poeple don't lose, their egos lose.
I don't mean to sound snooty, really, but this guy sitting to my right was slamming down chips like he had an endless bankroll, played everything at first... But I knew he was full of it. It also helps that I am very sensitive in the psychic area. There was a pretty young player to my left who was falling for his bluffs and I leaned over and told him the guy to my right was full of it, especially when he tried to play an invisable full house, cause I had folded it. (Poor kid) Didn't turn up till after the turn card. Helped him out just knowing to be on the look out for that guy. (Probably not proper poker etiquette). I left the table after that and went to another casino. $3/$6 game.
I ask for positive energy from the Universe, I ALLOW flow and yes, I totally believe ask and you shall receive!
At the 2nd casino, a guy to my left had his lucky rock (and big buy in, lol.)
I showed him MY lucky rock and he actually tried to steal it! LMAO
