Is it a good time to return to Online Poker?
It's been almost 2 years since I last played poker. Some forum members might remember my name, if they don't remember my witty and often childish remarks. I would like to pose a question to the community. Is now a good time to start playing online poker?
The reason I ask is because I was reading my old poker blog, and it brought back a flood of good memories, and a back draft of the old poker skills I had picked up back in the day. I feel like I could get into poker again, but is it worth the effort?
I used to be a decent player, over the two years I played poker, I was definitely up a few thousand dollars, but I quit because I was getting bored with the variance; bored of playing 300 sit'n'go's in a month; bored of the silly cash game rats, tighter than a mouse's anus, and the other morons, the rocks who hit their draw on the river, and the rare skilled oponent who could fool you into overestimating your chances; it just became too annoying and difficult to be worth my while, so I cashed out.
So again, to pose a question: should I start playing poker? I always liked Poker Stars, but the bonuses were generally shit; where should I consider depositing? If anywhere. And what types of games do you find to be the most profitable??
Anyways, it feels good to post again; and hello to ya'll who remember me.

well if anything the games become tougher. So if you get upset when you're being out drawn or out played, then poker is not for you.
However, if you can find your self that discipline and maturity to realize that being out drawn is a part of poker. And if you get out played you need to learn from it and improve your game. Then online poker is as good place as ever...

PLO is a lot more profitable for a skilled player at the moment as compared to No Limit Hold'em. Too bad you just missed a big PokerStars deposit bonus. After them, I would recommend Full Tilt. Just make sure you sign up for rakeback with someone like Rakefreeze before you get your account.

Greetings fellow nerds.
I'm excited to say that I haven't forgotten about this silly game. After making this post, I pretty much forgot about it. Life went on, and during a trip home, I made the whimsical decision to check out the tattered shambling skeleton of a cash game that I turned my back on. I was cruising facebook, bored off my ass, because kitchener ontario's dim glow compares-not to the omniluminescence of toronto's bright lights. My old friend(old in the sense that he is about 10 years my senior)'s status mentioned an upcoming poker game, and I jumped on that high horse. He texts me back saying, "New location. It's 1/2 now. Lemme know if your in." I didn't really have any money on me, but luckily enough, my girlfriend gave me $1050 to make a purchase for her, so I decided to use that.
I was fortunate enough to have returned home when my parent's were on vacation. Usually I'm bumming rides, or walking 10km to/from the bar when I'm in K-town, but I was lucky because my step-mom left the keys in her new ballin' Acura, so I decided to use that.
I had done nothing all day, except for watching the food network and enjoying a feast of 3 burger king whoppers, seasoned with cheese and weed, I was sitting in a pile of my own filth, but determined, I put on my shoes, grabbed the money, and zoomed off, down the street, bob dylan's "ballad of a thin man" blaring.
Completely lost in the maze of north waterloo's suburbs, it took me forever to find the place, and I spotted it. "A house," I thought, "-a little fancier than the crumby apartments we used to play in."
I venture inside, greeted by a tiny black kitten at the door, I was told to "make my way up to the loft," and I climbed, and hearing the familiar laugh of my old friend, I knew I was in the right place.
As for the poker, my memory restricts me from remembering many of the crucial details for properly describing the triumphs and defeats of the night.
I do remember quickly building my stack from the $80 I started with, to at least $200 or so. The people were mostly unfamiliar to me, but it was easy to pick up on who was dumb, and who thought about their actions. Either way, when you flop quad 5's, and trap 3 people, it's an easy way to build your stack from 200 to at least 400. I would know, because it happened to me.
I was fairly open and loose at the table, I was showing a lot of my hands and seeing a lot of flops. I wasn't playing my best poker, but at mid point I was starting to lose interest, and didn't care about winning as much as possible. I stopped hitting any decent show down hands, and I foolishly squandered about $100 on a stupid Q high flush, when I should have known to fold.
I was happy to have been up for the night, considering I wasn't technically playing with my own money. I joyously bundled the cash in my hands and gleefully skipped down the stairs, kitten nipping at my heels, and gaily drove my stolen car home. I was disappointed not to have found any fast food places open, and low on gas, I didn't make a mission of it, and settled on cooking a frozen pizza when returning home.
Fast forward another 3 weeks into the future, to right about now. I am sitting here with a freshly downloaded version of poker stars on my desktop. I always favored poker stars, so hopefully to combat the lack of deposit bonus, I emailed support and asked for any kind of bonus. I don't see why they wouldn't help me out.
I fired up my play-money account the past 2 nights and brought my bankroll from 325,000 to just over 500,000. The first night I won a 1 table sng, broke even in a cash game, but tonight I went crazy in a few cash games, and also won a 27 person sng. I actually feel really good in all 3 stages of the tournament play, and I was also really comfortable in the cash games.
I am strongly considering making a deposit, and right now I'm sitting on the fence between depositing $200, or $500. I'm basically deciding whether I should start @ NL$10, or NL$25. I've always liked the .10/.25 game, so I think I'll probably just deposit $500 and give it a shot. Wish me luck! Hahahah!!!

Prologue:
Well, Poker Stars refused to offer me a deposit bonus, so f*ck 'em. I created a new account @ full tilt with 27% rakeback. I think there's a deposit bonus as well, so it's time to get started! I'm probably going to make my deposit at the beginning of next week. Wooooooooooooooo.

So many good parts to that story but my highlight has to be:
Welcome back man.

FTP has an atrocious $10NL rake, I believe. You are better off starting at 25NL
Good choice on avoiding Stars

Is $500 enough to start playing NL25? Is that enough to do anything? I set up my old version of Poker Tracker and Poker Ace HUD, so I'm all ready to go. If I start off winning, then I wont have to worry about it. I'm just worried about pissing away half my bankroll before I get a hang of how to play. I've been killing the play-money games, turning my 1000 chips into 65,000 in about a week, but somehow that doesn't fill me with much reassurance. What should I doooooo? I don't remember that bankroll management stuff.
