is mid level MTT really profitable to mid stake cash players

Postby MrDarling » Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:00 am GMT

This is directed to people who play $400NL or above (Kingertje?)

Assuming you make at least $100/hour playing cash game, is playing mid levels MTT (say up to $100) really profitable in terms of $/hour?

Even if you manage a 200% ROI, it means you're expecting to make $200 for every $100 MTT you play. again assuming you average more the 2 hours in a MTT, I can't see how this is profitable...

At the moment I only play my 2 big Freerolls a month (might be 3 this month) : my RTR freeroll and FT ironman.
Even though I expect a much lower hourly rate playing those events, I like playing MTT's and its not like I really enjoy playing +2 hours cash sessions.

it is profitable but hourly is lower than that of a decent nl400 player
and even the big mtt guys who play 100$+ mtta only very few come close to good nl400 players long term

Why do we call them cash players? Because they play cash games the best. Obvious answer.

If you are pretty insane , mtts can be profitable in the long haul, and you can make some sick scores...at the cost of your sanity. OR you can be a numb master.
Can't talk about cash games, cos I haven't played enough, but they seem pretty fun.Maybe cos its fresh/newer to me though.

I have no doubt that MTT's can be profitable. However in terms of $/H do you really think a mid levels MTT grinder can do better then a mid level cash player?

I don't, but I'm not either of those things.

If you play alot of cash tables and are proefficient at playin 4 or + , then I think cash games are the way to go.

Would be interesting to see a skilled mtt'er play 3 tournaments at a time for say 8 hours vs a cash player who's playing the same though.
