Is TPTK always the nuts?

Postby miaowmiaowchowface » Wed Apr 02, 2008 2:19 am GMT

Live 2/5 NL. 10 handed.
This has been an insane game all night, and at around 6 in the morning (I have a problem) there are some MONSTER stacks and money is just flying around(despite the table consisting mostly of regular good players). I have roughly 15-1600$ after just getting bad beated for a 2k pot.

I'm UTG+1, and I pick up A:club:T:heart: and limp. Theres a raise to 20$, 3 callers and I call.

Flop: T :club: 9 :diamond: 3:club:

BB checks, and I lead for 100$, to see where I'm at.
Raiser folds, but everyone else calls.

Turn: 5 :diamond:

BB has a large stack, the next caller is just with 500, and the other caller also has me covered.

Now- should I bet here? What should be my line?

I decided to bet 350$ to see whats going on. The button moves all in, for about an extra 1050$ (note the big stack next to me still hasnt folded, they both had around 2000$).

The player who moved all in, is very hard to describe. I saw him pull off a huge bluff before, but generally he seems to only BET when he has the goods. Otherwise he just tends to be a calling station... I have no idea whether he's a shark or just a moron with money.
BB folds. I ????????

As played, I like that you bet the turn but now you have to fold.

A raise on the turn is very often very strong and you have to be worried on such a dry board and the fact there is a player that covers between you and him.

Your hand is really not much more than a bluff catcher here. He's not doing this for value with a weaker ten. He could have a flush draw + overs and sense that you're weak / tilting after losing that big pot.

Folding is fine here, making a hero call is tough but probably unprofitable.

Yeah- I think a major leak of mine is never folding even when I get partially invested in a pot. In the end I did call, as I couldn't really put him on a better hand. Naturally he had 55
