iTunes/MP3 source
Who do you guys use for downloading songs? I would prefer to find a lower cost legal source with a wide library.
I dont mind paying a monthly fee, but I probably only download about 5-10/month.

If you download, rip, copy, stream or any other process that creates a file on your computerthen you are in posession of it. Therefore it is illegal.

sorry i got that from just googling legal issues for deezer and pulled up the first site, with a little further research i came up with this
http://www.monetise.net/joomla/index.ph ... &Itemid=51
i wouldn't have any legal worries using deezer
Deezer.com pays revenue to the artist's record label on a cost per play basis.

Pays them what? The Russians pay the artits something too but it's a one sided deal so more for show. Unless there's an agreement between both parties it's not 100% legal.
I'm just curious if this is the case, or it is indeed all above board.

From what I read on Deezer's own forum, it is not legal to download. It is only legal because you are not suppose to be able to download. There was some BS about residence of France being able to legally because of a deal they made w/ the artist and royalties paid from ad revenue.
I have seen enough uncertainty to not trust it.
I dont mind skirting the law on some stuff, but this could cost me my career.
I dont mind paying someone something, just looking for a lower cost source than $.99 per song that is 100% legal in the US.
Does anyone use subscription services?

Exactly the same in Russian and a perfect example of how it's hard to legislate in a post internet world
